Reviews for Cost of a Life Debt
Lisa Cooper chapter 10 . 5/25
I am enjoying your story. You are building mystery quite well as Harry mostly doesn’t listen to Professor Snape except to attempt to be sneaky during his interview with Mr. Fudge and Draco Malfoy. Harry’s behavior is still odd; though, it is understandable why he wouldn’t want to trust Snape. It definitely seems like something is up. As you can I would like to hear more of this story. I have experienced times when life wins; you can’t write; etc. As you can, reading more of this story would be fun. Thanks.

Amazing start to your story!

The premise of this is kind of... bit off, as Snape owed Harry a Life Debt also, so from both ends it should be considered repaid for both. Just saying.
Miriam1 chapter 10 . 11/21/2018
I just realized... Professor Snape IS protecting Harry, once again. Harry was unjustly accused, and Severus realized that was part of what was likely to happen, because of the ebbs and flows of the Wizarding World.

So... By calling in the life-debt, Severus is making sure that whatever scheme the corrupt Ministry has going on, no one can touch Harry.

It would have been lovely if Severus actually discussed this with Harry at any given time, but talking to Harry has never been a priority.

Harry didn't understand all of this. Rather, he saw his slavery to the prophecy, and now slavery to the one man who hates him... It's not an unjust view of things that Harry has.

Where and when was Harry supposed to know that he had permission to ask Snape anything? I'm not sure he knew. However... The abuse they made him talk about was mentioned to the last three people Harry would have wanted to know.

Considering that Harry was with Severus, he had no opportunity, although Fudge, Malfoy, and Snape learned that Harry could have had plenty of motive.

But they all learned that Harry had lived in a vile, abusive environment, not the lap of luxury everyone had assumed. They discovered that should Harry have murdered his aunt, uncle, and cousin, it would not have been an ungrateful act, as much as vengeance, if not self-defense. If he, in fact, did the deed.

But now they know.

It is an interesting take on how Veritaserum works. I've never seen it used quite that way, before.

It is a pity you gave it up so long ago. I wish you would come back to this story, as it is beautifully done so far.

Have a happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,
Miriam

He made a vow to protect Lily's kid...how does his protecting get him a life dept?

That's like getting a prize for doing your job when you literally did nothing special. I hate that it's like a pet on the head for doing what you actually are paid to do...it's retarded...

Did he not make the vow in this story? How else would it be logical...

Seriously plot hole...

First of all this every one shit on Harry Potter because it's the only way fiction about him world is getting old. You mean he was a a slave to the wizarding world and now the man who tormented him and helped kill his mother is the one to save him from himself or some shit?

Second I have read a lot of slash stories and there are poorly done and amazingly written ones.

Personally I'm sick of these Harry needs to be tortured to be shown the errors of his thinking or saved shit. Id rather this story just be snapped revenge. Not reading it...

I'm also glad it's not slash as a slave Harry one would be creepy.

If this was a thing couldnt harry call in the debts of the entire wizardign world they all owe him
penname915 chapter 10 . 12/6/2014
Poor Harry, those are perhaps the three people he would least have wanted to share about his childhood! Not only that, but they definately have motive for his 'revenge' on the Dursley's. Why of why didn't Snape ask him if he killed the Dursleys. Then, at least he would have said no under the serum? Well, Snape is playing things well. But, honestly, Draco- having so much political power? Fudge still being Minister... Well, if Harry never bothers with the Wizarding world again- it will be justified. Aside from his friends and a few others, they really have only meant him harm or believed anything the ministry and news papers say. I am ranting because the injustice of these last chapters, they are hard to read I guess. I said it before, Harry certainly is a survivor.
penname915 chapter 9 . 12/6/2014
It's horrible- that Harry has his free choice taken from him. Even if Snape can't ask anything immoral, its horrible that Harry has to sit, speak, etc. on command. Harry certainly is a survivor, some would have considered suicide preferable. Thankfully Snape hasn't purposefully made things harder for him. I have trouble imagining a friendship forming between Harry and Snape, with them never spending time together. It sounds lonely- for Harry. Of course, he seems to be approaching this as an extended stay at the Dursley's. So isolation it is. I just hope it doesn't last too long. I wish Harry coul be happy. Thanks goodness for Hermione and Ron, explaining things. How could Dumbledore not explain things better? They barely gave Harry any details! And the Ministry! Accusing Harry without proof... Well, I suppose I can see that happening. Hmm. So Snape is responsible for Harry's well-being now. This could be bad. I imagine he wouldn't be to skilled at anticipating his needs. I guess we shall see in your next chapters.
