I really like this. It was great! But I think what would make it even better is if you wrote as if Sanzo was speaking instead of in Narration form. It's always awesome to think of it as if it was really in Sanzo's mind. Did that make sense? lol

This, I like. Sanzo's battle to shield himself from something he doesn't really want to shield, how he waits for Goku to mature enough before confronting any idea of something MORE... it's beautifully captured here.

And I'm thrilled that you mention something I've always believed-that Hakkai understands Sanzo the most out of the four, but also that Sanzo and Goku seem to have this... bond, if you will, that doesn't exactly require each to psychoanalyze each other.

Or maybe you weren't saying that, but that's the vibe I caught, and it makes me smile.
