Guest chapter 1 . 1/16/2019
‘If love won't keep them home, by Kami let me hate them with all my heart.’ Is one of the best line I’ve read in FanFiction, hell even regular fiction in my life.
wthtonibelle chapter 1 . 7/19/2015
too good. just too good. omg.
Coofis chapter 1 . 12/31/2014
I have to be honest with you. I'm a Vegeta fan. I mostly read stories about Vegeta and his family. I've seen this story floating around, and it has caught my attention multiple times, but I've always gotten distracted by Vegeta-related fanfics. Until now.

I'm trying to find the words that would do justice to this work of art. "Incredible" comes to mind. "Masterful," too. Neither of them even begin to cover it.

The pacing is perfect. Your descriptions - whether they be of the food, of the characters' actions, or of Chi-Chi's emotions - are very tastefully done. Chi-Chi is so often vilified and exaggerated in stories, but you've managed to express a much deeper side of her here. A picture of who she truly is. Thank you for this.

Oh, and the ending is fantastic, by the way. It wraps everything up and gives us a final whiff of Chi-Chi's cooking, and reminds us of how the story began. Beautiful. I envy your skills.

Favorites. Definitely.

Green Queen chapter 1 . 4/19/2014
Both Goku and Chi Chi are good people, or, he is a good alien and she is a good person. Anyone who understands the DBZ characters knows that both Chi Chi and Goku have given their best relative to who they truly are. We see Goku as a human being or as normal person due to his external appearance, but he is not. Goku IS an alien by nature. So, we have an alien (with his own innate nature) married to a human being; therefore, yes, there are going to be some major problems relative to their ability to successfully live out the domestic life that Chi Chi so worships. Goku can't provide Chi Chi with the normal, married domestic life she has always dreamed about since she was a little girl; his nature and destiny is very much opposite of and painfully conflicts with the type of domestic human being she sought. Transforming Goku into a domestic, culturally bred husband is like trying to turn an elephant or a lion into a domestic house pet! Chi Chi should have taken the time to get to know Goku before she handcuffed the alien into marriage. If anyone has watched Dragonball and the last tournament just before their wedding, you know exactly what I am talking about regarding my last statement! She locked this alien into a promise made when they were just kids; a promise he completely misunderstood in thinking marriage to be food! But, because Goku is so painfully honest and loyal by nature, he followed through on the promise when she called him on it. They didn't even know one another when they were kids and hadn't seen each other for years until the tournament. But that is Chi Chi's issue; based on all of the explicit and implicit information provided on Chi Chi, she doesn't seem to take the time to really SEE or get to KNOW people, not even her own children and husband. Everyone seems to live under "roles" and "title" and all of the expected behaviors associated with them in her world. She seems painfully immune to individuality, uniqueness, individual purposes and such. She tries to force everything in her world into prescribed and generic molds, including herself, which is the grand cause of most of her frustrations. Considering who Goku is and his life destiny, Chi Chi is lucky she has the good memories of Goku and their life that she has at all. She is living out the consequences of her enforced choices. She just couldn't destroy his innate force...
tomorrow4eva chapter 1 . 6/7/2013
Awesome realistic look at Chichi's feelings. Thank you for writing.
nukidono14 chapter 1 . 1/18/2012
Beautiful. It's so rare to find a story like this focused on Chichi. And for that, I am truly thankful. I really appreciate you writing this story for her. You've captured her feelings perfectly. Truthfully and beautifully written.

I was eight then and Chichi have ever since been my favorite female in DB universe. From she was running around in her bikini armor when she was little until she was an adult. At first, I am quite amused by how she was from the early parts of the DBZ Saiyan saga, what's with the yelling and all the fuss, etc. Never been annoyed. And never had hated her for the way she was. Just really amused. Well maybe because of the fact that she's a wife and a mother. How she puts up with everything, her dedication to her family, is admirable. I totally understand if I was in her shoes. It's not until the Android and Cell Saga that my admiration for her intensified. And now, me all grown up, still just love really love Chichi to pieces.

I hope people who watched/watches/will watch DBZ will get to read this.

To those people who bash Chichi, pause for a minute and read this and understand with that shallow mind of yours the essence of her character.

Thank you so much, Phoenix Cubed, for this beautiful story.
Angelfish369 chapter 1 . 10/30/2011
Sometimes I wonder if Toriyama has anything against women. Every woman in DBZ is crazy and annoying and is the one thing that super powerful men fear. Chi-Chi is always portrayed as irrationally super protective but she really has to put up with A LOT with a husband and son like that. It's virtually impossible to stay sane in her shoes. I am glad you wrote a little tribute to her.
Autumn Dusk chapter 1 . 7/9/2011
Incredibly well-written and particularly touching, especially since you added your own personal emotions to it. Truly well-done.
the sadistic homicidal child chapter 1 . 9/27/2009

clow-san chapter 1 . 6/17/2009

Tatsumaki-sama chapter 1 . 12/14/2008
This is amazing! I loved how Chi Chi tried to keep everything as if it was just another normal day, even though all three of them knew it wouldn't be. Your characterization of Chi Chi was simply wonderful! There was a twinge in my heart, which was probably what Chi Chi felt when she knew it was time for them to go fight on the battlefield. Her worry and motherly instincts cannot help but remind me of my own mom. I particularly liked the part with Goku referring her to one in a million, how he was gladly die, live, fight and come home for her.
Jessiegurl43953 chapter 1 . 7/5/2007
Chi-Chi is probably my least favorite character in the Dragon Ball series, yet this fanfiction was so emotional and insightful that it's changed my opinion of her. You showed a side of her that is usually overshadowed by the controlling, loud part of her personality. I could hear her voice, as I was reading this, rising and falling with confusion and panic and love. It was powerful.
maz2 chapter 1 . 11/14/2006
Beautiful, couldn't call it any other way.
Selenity Jade chapter 1 . 9/19/2005
