Thank you for writing this, banking is a favorite of mine. Though he didn't have much in the way of a part in the movie. Thank you.

I didn't manage to get through this story the first time I read it. But I've tried again and I'm so glad I did. This was a wonderful story, you found a very good balance between plot and romance.

I really appreciated the style of Gamling's thoughts, they were often hysterical.

I wish Aefre an easy birth with the twins and I hope that Gamling manages to distract Eomer well enough during the birth of Elfwine.

Outstanding. Comedy, romance, a wee bit of action and characters I've never read a fic on. Loved it.

So, I finished this story today. Prepare for a long one. haha.

I remember trying it a few months ago, but back then I didnt really like Gamlings inner thoughts (*sweetsweetyoungthingsthings...*) I thought he was creepy. However, I was wrong and in the course of the story I began to love him and Aefre. Especially the first chapters are hilarious!

When I started reading, his thoughts distracted me from his outer actions. Only when you wrote that he was a quiet guy, I noticed how little he was actually talking. And - this was my favorite part through the whole story - the things he was saying! Oh my god, I laughed so hard! It was so fun seeing everyone rely on him and his advice, and all he had in his head was *hothothothothotmouthhothot* and then he said in a total normal voice something serios like "And how do you plan to solve this, my lord?"

I think one can see that you wrote this over a long period of time. In the later chapters, Gamling loses a bit of his spark. Of course he gets settled down and there is war and everything, but I missed his lewd comments sometimes.

There were a few chapters I didnt like at all, not because of the plot or the writing, but because I couldnt stand Gamlings mother. Yes, she is a strong woman, and I guess she is ok, but I didnt like the way she treated Gamling and she was so overbearing! I wanted to read about Aefre and Gamling, and honestly, the two of them are both adults and dont need his mothers meddling. She was nice at the wedding, but I didnt find her likeable at all. Most of the time I felt sorry for Gamling.

And there were chapters and scenes I loved: Firstly, the humour. It got me unexpected sometimes, and people were looking weirdly because I started to grin at my computer. .. Gamlings thoughts, Eomer drunk, Faramirs observations, the couples running gags.

Secondly, the love and the sex. Dunharrow. Just... wow.

Thirdly, the way the characters interacted and their reactions. I especially liked the way Gamling was handling the battle. It made him very human and real, and his way to overcome the trauma and finally to talk to Aefren was not just cute, but also honest and realistic.

Summing up, I loved this story. In the middle of it I started wondering when I had started to care for this rider. I found him more attractive with every chapter and didnt dare to google him because the Gamling in the movies is not. "Your" Gamling is perfectly imperfect.

I think i will start reading your other rider-verse work. Have a nice day!

What an incredible writer you are. I think I read this story in record time. I can't wait to read more of your work. Thank you for such a wonderful woven tale with such vivid characters and landscapes. You are an amazing talent, and you set the bar very high.

Thank you so much for this long and amazing story. I know you wrote it a long time ago, but I just read it (as fast as possible) and wanted to let you know that I loved it.
I had so much fun and pleasure reading it ! You managed to mix Tolkien's characters and your characters well. I just love how you portray Eomer. After all we only saw him during the darkest times in LOTR, not a time for pranks and laughter. So seeing him, and Eowyn, be happy and smiling is great.
And now : Eomer and Lothiriel !

I enjoyed your tale greatly, and in particular, the chapter headings were lots of fun. This story had a charm and depth of characterization and depiction of Rohan's customs, and made me Wiki Jo Dee Messina, ha.

Wonderful beginning, looking forward to a good long read!
Wordspin chapter 47 . 2/15/2014
Finally got around to finishing reading this. In all, an interesting fic, with quite engaging and strong original characters, nicely fleshed out canon characters and creating fitting traditions for the Rohirrim.
Wordspin chapter 36 . 1/12/2014
This bridal bath tradition is certainly an interesting one, not to mention entertaining. And Gamling's drunken speeches, very funny indeed. It's intriguing to see how Tolkien's characters are portrayed so differently by different writers.
Wordspin chapter 35 . 1/12/2014
Finally got some time to continue reading again. I do like how you flesh out Erkenbrand and Elfhelm, managing to give them such distinct personalities while using only a few words. It's always wonderful to see minor canon characters brought into a story and given bigger parts to play. And Elfhelm's wife, she seems to be one very capable woman!

The mention of Elfhilde's grave and the fact that Theoden would be placed beside his wife (even though not canon) was incredibly sweet.

I really enjoyed those moments when Eomer speaks of finding a wife and Queen who would want him for himself and would care for Rohan as much as he. Those instances of seriousness counterbalance your Eomer's more carefree moments quite nicely.
Anon chapter 47 . 12/30/2013
I like the ending.
Anon chapter 46 . 12/30/2013
I don't know any man who wants to be present for labor, but women seem to want them there. Maybe it is payback ;)
Anon chapter 45 . 12/30/2013
This is dramatic. In a good way. Not too much.
