Beautiful. The way that you described everything seems so in-depth and perfect. It's almost as if, through the eyes of someone else, you examined Howl's character.

There's a coherence in Sophie's words that makes her the lovely character that I always loved. :-)

Wow, wonderful idea and spectacular writing. I loved reading this. You elaborated on something so poignant. Really great insight. I loved each characteristic that you described about Howl, and how you wrote this in Sophie's voice. I thought you captured them both well, and especially Howl since you were writing specifically about him. I can definitely see Howl's character like you've written. And the irony of his situation was so movingly written. Love the title too!

Heheheh. So flipping weird. I'm sorry, that's not a comment on your writing; it's very pretty and moving and probably even quite insightful. Just...the fact that the movie made a Howl that can be read like this...lordy lou, Studio Ghibli...

It's "for a plain man with mud-brown hair, he's incredibly vain," and a Welsh accent and slapdash magic and mooning around with a stupid guitar he can't play and having to trick himself into doing anything brave or honest, because he's so constitutionally irresponsible. And real talent and loyalty, and absolutely adoring his niece, and some really cool and flashy magic. But still. How on earth did he become cool and beautiful? Sorry, I got here through a favorites' list instead of the category, so I didn't realize until I was already reading it that it was the wrong fandom. Lordy lou. Heheh.

fanfiction is a beautiful thing because it allows the reader to see through the eyes of the author, their perspective, viewpoint, with their discernment and understanding. to look at a situation or character the way another sees them...

the truly gifted and talented artist can express that perspective in such a way that whoever views their work can almost touch, see, hear, that which has been depicted.

Well written one-shot!

Your use of advanced (and by that I mean multi-syllabic words that have the preteen members of ffdotnet searching frantically through a dictionary whenever they run across them) vocabulary was superb. It brought out Sophy's intellectual abilities. Her insight into Howl's character came across as both perceptive and lauditory. There was a sense of Sophy pulling back to assess Howl almost clinically, yet her self-depreciating humor and love for Howl came through quite clearly as well. Your description of Howl was a joy to read. I'm really glad I found this on a friend's 'favorite list'!

I love the language you use in this-it's so incredibly poetic. I commend you. By the way, have you ever heard of Him (His Infernal Majesty)? Your writing makes me want to listen to all their CDs. Excellent.

another very good fic :D! Even though I'm not that much of a fan of Howl's Moving Castle, I love the fic -! especially these lines:

He is the art of the atrocity that goes unseen; I ache for him because of it. He is locked away in his fortress of beauty, and the world may never know.
