I know this fanfic is nearly a decade old, but I have to tell you that I haven't been hooked on a fanfic since long long time ago! XD.

I am always afraid of Versailles no Bara fanfics that take place in the modern times. But somehow you managed it SO well! This is really impressive!

I've been reading this Fic on the train to home, in bed, while sitting on the couch, not even watching TV anymore, in the waiting room at the doctor's, even at work when things were slow. I went completely addicted!

Changing the French revolution context into a financial scandal was a great idea. AND adding a touch of paranormal was perfect (even if I don't believe in those things :-p). I love Oscar helping Françoise entreating that terrible fate and saving Diane, André, and herself...

That was a great idea to give Andre a motorbike instead of a horse. I can totally picture him with the leather outfit and everything... Yummy!

At the beginning, I really didn't like Françoise. She's even more a cold robot than I Versailles no Bara. But she slowly changes and becomes more a human being :-p.

Anyway, thank you so so much for this fanfic. I love it. Really.

I was just reading Memories, for the zillionth time, when I suddenly realized that
De Brun's acquiring Patrick Smith's American company was an analogy of France's sending troops to the American revolution. How brilliant! How dense of me to only get that after all this time! And I thought the whole American deal was just to bring in another romantic twist (I did love the all the drama, and Smith was absolutely delicious). I had wondered if the company and Smith were American because of a personal preference of the writer, but now I see you had your reasons...I guess all this is just to say, Please do come back, Nana! Oh, and merry Christmas and merry Oscar's birthday!

The details, the research, the sheer effort, the LOVE that went into this story just shines through and makes it utterly beautiful and classic in a way that is similar to the style of the original Rose of Versailles manga and anime. I am absolutely blown away and honoured that you chose to share it with us. This is the one work of fanfiction I have found that lives up to the Rose of Versailles. My sincerest thanks and admiration to you.

I love how you used the 2005 events as a parallel to the French Revolution. I am French so I remember when they happened.

I also liked the way you portrayed the present day RoV characters. They remind me of the original characters very well but at the same time, they have their own personality, especially Françoise end André. Also, Oscar's ghost is kind of scary when I try to picture her in my mind.

Last but not least, I like Madame Dubois' character. Her present day self, as well her original self are very interesting.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading another fic of yours.

Brilliant story !

The only thing I can think to comment is "wow". This is the very first Rose of Versailles fic I've ever read (even though I've been an on-again-off-again fan for something like 25 years), and you kind of set the gold standard for anything I will read in this fandom from now on. I never cared about reincarnation AUs, but you made it work just so beautifully- the present day characters were their own persons (and really likable) while at the same time being clearly recognizable for their "historical" counterparts, and you really captured the original flavor of the work, the sense of things progressively slipping out of control towards impending catastrophe (and by the way, thank you for the happy ending!).

Most of the business related talk flew right over my head, but I was enthralled by the painting's history. I've wondered so many times what happened to that painting, I was just so happy to see it featured so prominently. And I had an heart attack when Oscar herself appeared to Françoise- I had to stop reading for a few minutes to get a hold of myself!

There were a few things that kind of challenged my suspension of disbelief, like the poisoning scene. I felt present day André was far too level headed to suddenly turn that unhinged (similar to the attempted assault scene, which for some reason worked better for me); I understand you were following the original storyline, but your story and characters were overall not melodrammy enough to convincingly pull it off. Similarly, when Françoise's dad wanted to shoot her, the scene (while more appropriate and "organic" to the setting) just kind of deflated instead of de-escalating. But let me tell you that the things I liked- and loved- were far more numerous and impactful. You are a very talented writer, and the pacing- starting moderate and then picking up more and more as the story progressed- was amazing, which is a feat in and of itself and rare in fanfiction. The setting was well built and gave more substance to the story, the inclusion of the 2005 riots tastefull handled. Your writing style suits the plot very well- elegant but not stuffy, kind of melancholy in places- and flows very pleasantly.

I hope you will write more RoV stories- if not I'll cherish this one forever:) Thank you so much for sharing!
