The real problem that everyone should have with Blackfire is well...shes a cold hearted killer. Even catwomen wouldnt go that far. I mean people can change, but yeah i don't see robin falling for that unless blackfire actually decided to turn good...unless its just a fling-he could have picked that up from batman. Shes like the most unlikely choice but cool for the story.

Robin is now an all out Bachelor. Its another hard decision right when the world goes to hell.

ROBIN BELONGS WITH STARFIRE! Just kidding. I'm glad that you actually made the whole Robin/Blackfire pairing work. It takes some pretty remarkable writing talent to pull that off, but you really did manage to do so. Everybody still remained in character for the majority of the story, so you get some good bonus points for that. Overall, "Coil" is a surprisingly good story, one that I will give an 8/10.

Well, this story is Robin & Blackfire, and as far as I know Robin is not a girl, and Blackfire is the only girl with black hair that we've met so far, so I'm gonna take a gamble and vote for Blackfire.

You SO stole that line from Faith. Who, by the way, is far superior to Buffy in every single way. Faith is awesome, Buffy sucks. 224.

Aaaand the last six chapters went by REALLY quickly.

The actions sequences were decent, especially those involving the Horsemen. Your treatment of Rij'ze was quite good. I'm a sucker for dragons anyway, and he was convincing. The cameos were nice (love the Witchblade!) and timely. It really was kind of ... oh, I don't know ... silly, maybe? Silly for Nightwing to send such small groups out after entities (that is, the Horsemen) with that sort of power level. If they hadn't received aid, things would have gone very badly.

The exposition seemed stilted in a lot of places, in particular where the various jets were flying around disgorging long lists of heroes. That probably could have been handled better.

On the whole, though, a pretty good read. Thanks!

But now the Horsemen are out and about. Bad.

You've seemingly given us an insurmountable problem here. As Blackfire said, "We are so screwed." And yet ... there are six more chapters. That would indicate to me that there is at least some hope of non-screwed-ness showing up.

Let's find out.

Well, at first blush, it sounds as if the jig is up for "Alvin". But Blackfire is a real wild card, in every sense, and she may decide she'd rather have him than her gang membership. We'll see, won't we?

Frankly I think you should have gone for the M rating and just let the characters do what they wanted to. Things get a lot more interesting when the gloves come off.

I liked that exchange between X and Robin. Sound reasoning all around.

While I can see a certain amount of alien tech being in human hands, I'd think that some items - read: anything to do with anti-gravity - would be in the mass-produced stage by now. Something so handy and versatile could hardly be kept a secret.

And the dragon spirit is communicating with him now. Why, assuming that this dragon is as freakishly powerful as has been hinted, has it not simply taken over Robin's body? I'd think that wouldn't be such a trick. Then it could do what it pleased, and have Blackfire for its very own if it felt so inclined.

The story is getting pretty good. Slade is a prick.

A novel concept, that. Robin is harboring a MAJOR-MOJO dragon, or at least its spirit. Pretty darn cool IYAM.

It's a pity the others are scared of him. You'd think their experiences with Raven would have cured that, but I guess not. He's been their leader now for, what? four years? five? C'mon, guys! This is ROBIN!

But then, he overreacted, too. He should have talked to them, separately, and gotten them to understand that he's the same guy.

I'll be very interested to see where this goes.
