Normally, I don't really like character studies, but you managed to put something on paper that explains perfectly (or not) how Yugi feels, without pushing your headcanons on the audience. Well done.

I don't go for the romantic fics either. I am definitely a 'two parts of a whole' believer. They together are complete.

I really like this story. I only started watching YGO recently, and as soon as I finished the anime I came to to get my YGO fix because I didn't want it to end - and thats when I came across all the Puzzleshipping. Initially I was pretty freaked out by it because I hadn't seem them in a romantic light, more like brothers - but the more I thought about it, the more I realised actually their relationship isn't exactly like that... I pretty much mused through like how Yuugi did in this story! But got to say, I'm definitely a Puzzleshipper now lol.

I like how you ended it as well, and how you described the triangle (even though I'm definitely not into Yuugi/Anzu or Yuugi/Atem).

Basically, awesome work, and really like your writing style!

Really interesting character study. While I don't ship Yugi and Tea, I liked how you described the 'triangle' of sorts. Especially since this is written post-series, and Yugi is having to deal with life after Atem - if, indeed, such a thing really exists.

I love this oneshot. I've never been a big fan of puzzleshipping. I can see why many people would consider their love romantic, but they share a body so that's just weird to me. It's too close to be brotherly love, and family love doesn't cut it. Even agape can't describe it. There literally is no word to describe their relationship.

There is no word...to describe how good this is. I'm in awe of this, seriously. You brought up a point that not many authors consider-what is the relationship between Yami and Yugi, if not Eros? And you also brought up pretty much all of my reasons for disliking Puzzleshipping-it's kind of wrong to have Eros for someone who lived in your body, but what other word is there for it? And most authors cannot find what is beyond Eros, and thus Puzzleshipping was born. Most never consider what Tea adds to the mix, either. You took the entire issue and described exactly how Yugi most likely feels-he's a full person, and yet not. He's not himself anymore, but he's not anyone new. He's a complete being, but he's only half of complete.

The part that got me most was,

/Or until I lose. Then he would stay behind and I would go.

But there's no word to describe that, either./

We have no idea what would have happened if Yugi lost-would nothing have happened, or would Yugi have to leave? And I think Yugi feels sometimes that it's better if he'd left, because then Atem and Tea could be happy together without him-but they wouldn't, and he knows that deep down. Beautiful.

This was the best fic I've read that describes puzzle/spirit...The actual cannon relationship between them three. Awesome job.

I agree with your sentiments entirely and I wish I'd arrived at this story sooner. Takahashi created an entirely new relationship with these two and calling it 'Romantic Love' just doesn't cut it. I guess the fascination with YY/Y relationships stems from the intimacy that may or may not be akin to romantic love. You're right, we can't articulate the depth of this relationship, but we can try.
