This story... is good.

You had me interested by the summary, almost lost me after the first chapter, but you’ve pulled off an interesting sequence after Harry’s escape. Might not be entirely plausible in terms of powers and early actions of Harry and your version of his friends, but it works. You made Malfoy a bit too narrow-minded, Snape a bit too bigoted, and maybe gave the Weasley Twins maybe too much of a vindictive streak. But you made Daphne interesting, Dumbledore actually scheme for Greater Good with not much self-interest, Karkaroff is finally interesting in one of these, Harry is done better than I thought he would, and best of all I like your OCs.

The way the first 2 years played out was different, but very much good. Cuts down on writing things I’ll know and gets to your changes very nicely. Third year was hectic, but I could still follow easily- good job on that. And fourth year, I like what you’ve done so far. First task, the Champion’s Dinner, Fleur, Diggory, Voldie seems competent, and it’s just a good start to the new year.

Regardless, congrats on probably my favorite “first fanfic” story which is better than like 70% of the stories on this site. I’ll wait for the next chapter, even if it takes 20 years.

See, that was the problem with canon-Fumbleduck: I knew he was an evil, MOB from the off and just because Rowling chose to give 'lip-service' to him and laud him as a "martyred 'hero'" will never convince me that he was anything but evil! She did too good of a job showing him as "looking fair, but feeling foul" for him to be anything else!
This had to be written before DH came out because you have Sev as a Pureblood... Here's the thing, SS was just TOO over-the-top, 2-dimensional, cartoon-cut-out, "Snidely Whiplash" 'villain' for me to ever believe him to be anything but a pawn/distraction from the true "hey, little girl; want some candy?", grandfatherly "Light" Dark Lord (or is that a "Dark Lord light"? ;D)! And don't get me started by saying Dumb-as-f*** was just 'misguided'...

A seriously brilliant story with a different sort of harry. He is ruthless, determined and skilled. His strength comes not from his magical poweress but from his hard earned skills.
Hope you would continue the story.

A different sort of Harry Potter. He’s essentially a super powered wizard and a bit of a control freak after an abusive childhood. He’s also cruel and ruthless.

Dumbledore is well intentioned but manipulative. He usually winds up doing more harm than good. He’s quick to apologize but never actually changes.

Sirius is a reckless powerful wizard who is devoted to Harry. Despite Dumbledore’s failings, he’s quick to fall back under his wing despite Harry’s warnings.

Snape is a major league ! #$.

Daphne Greengrass is an excellent character. She’s beautiful, intelligent and manipulative. She’s also supremely self-interested and is targeting Harry for her social advancement. Despite being a self-interested and evil (she helped Malfoy plan to abuse 1st years to get on his side, and has hurt others for no good reason) she might be just the wicked plotter Harry needs in his soon to be war.

Harry’s pseudo-adoptive siblings are interesting. The authors take on the Weasely’s is spot on, in my opinion. I like this version of Hermione, brilliant but isolated.

Highly recommended. Too bad the author abandoned the story after the 1st task of the Tri-Wizard tournament.

I disagree. Dumbledore IS a manipulative bastard. Who else would say he wants to earn your trust while hitting you with a tracking charm?
