I loved this story so much. Not many fanfics put Haruhi and Tamaki together because they believe she's better off with someone else. AHEM. I BEG TO DIFFER. If she wasn't meant for Tamaki, wouldn't Hatori Bisco put her with someone else? I'm glad you stuck to the normal couple and Kyoya being jealous at Tamaki. The manga is 1,000,000x better than the anime. It goes into more depth and gives so many more scenes. It also shows that Haruhi and Tamaki dating and getting married. Read it. I know you're tempted. I recommend skipping a few chapters since it just retells the anime. I suggest starting at 16 or 17.

I...realize I have no right to say anything, and I realize this is several years after the fact, but somehow I'm going to do it anyway. I don't pretend to know anything about the situation you were in, but I just felt I had to say something, I guess. So I'm sorry if this comes off wrong, and please feel free to ignore it if it means nothing to you.

I don't know how to put this other than bluntly, so: It wasn't love that hurt you, it was a person. And one person not recognizing or cherishing your love, even when you gave everything you had, doesn't mean that you loving them was wrong. It simply means that they're too blind to know what they have. I disagree with your teacher-I think that the only way to love is to do it fully; that way, even if things end badly, you have nothing to regret about the situation, knowing you gave it everything you had, even if it didn't work out. And that way, if things can work out, you're doing everything you possibly can to make them happen the way you want, happily.

You're right-in that moment of pain, it often seems like all the happy times that came before mean nothing next to how overwhelmed and hurt you feel just then. But the further you move on, slowly and with time, the more it seems (at least to me) that the happy moments were more important, and the unhappy moments were simply there for you to learn from.

So, there's nothing wrong with being heartbroken (I've been there more than enough, myself), but if you let that bring you down forever, you'll never put yourself back out there, and never be able to learn what it's like to love, and truly be loved in return. Even in the most complicated of situations, being able to love someone fully and believing in their love for you can put that stupid goofy smile back on your face and let you know that if you work hard enough, aiming straight for what you want, you'll get there eventually. And then all the hard times really are worth the happiness you can find.
