| Bottlebrush chapter 1 . 9/1/2006 Very interesting story with a lot of good background stuff in it. Remus’s parents being alive, and the annual journeys in search of the cure; James’s and Peter’s mothers helping Sirius with bits of furnishing; Mrs Lupin’s casserole. I like Sirius’s self-restraint, and his pride in it; it’s a bit different from how he is usually portrayed. I love Remus’s sarcastic reply when Sirius asked if he found what he was looking for, that’s so how I imagine him too. That whole conversation after they get back to the apartment is very cleverly done, Sirius giving himself away without realising it, Remus catching on and taking the initiative – it’s all more delicately and subtly done than the average getting-together-for-the-first-time story, and I like that. And the ending is just beautiful. |
