This was really good. I was a bit confused at the beginning, until I realized this was written before we got more information about Itachi. I want to say that made it even more interesting, instead having a character that genuinely, casually contemplated killing his whole family and best friend just because. The way Shisui and Itachi jokingly compared suicide notes and spoke of killing each other with such affection was definitely a bit unsettling. You did a really great job of portraying Itachi as a distant asshole at the beginning, very gradually showing development in subtle ways. Something about the scene where he wrote to Sasuke after the boggart stuck out. It was heartwrenching. I also loved his friendship with Hagrid (Harry's mom). It seems oddly fitting the the sweetest person from canon would get along with the unstable assassin. The way you wrote the memory for his patronus was so endearing. I like that even in the memory of his brother, he coolly corrected him then brought him to their mother to deal with. It gave a lot of his previous actions more depth, showing that even the moments he felt the deepest were often indistinguishable from the others. Also, the speech Dean overheard in the Great Hall made me laugh, the person that just kept going "Damn." I wonder what Dean thought of the explanations and rumors that circulated about that incident. Sasuke jumping, yelling, "Ah! The foreigner talks!" was also hysterical. Anyway, I loved this story. Now onto the sequel!

Wow, the story is 11 years old but seems to have aged pretty well.

I enjoy it! However the whole... "We want you to be undercover and stay close to Harry Potter" thing kinda goes away when he spends 75% of the story telling everyone he's a ninja. lol

This book was amazing!

So you, the author, have often mentioned in this fic that you enjoy reviews above all else, a sentiment that I very much emphasize with, and because of that, I have decided to leave a review of my own despite it being ten years since this fic has been completed. Along with that, as of right now, there are over 1,300 reviews on this already, so I'm sure this review will be lost in the endless sea of other reviews.

Nonetheless, I am adding in my own two cents out of appreciation for this wonderful masterpiece.

Now, I would like to start off with my personal, subjective opinions on this that made it enjoyable for me. The first thing that comes to mind is the main character. I am an avid lover of Itachi fics, and Itachi is one of my top three Naruto characters, the others being Kakashi and Sasuke. Itachi being the main character is what drew me to this fic and the first place, and it had just enough Kakashi and Sasuke to satisfy my cravings for then too. Along with that, I haven't seen many fics focusing on ANBU Itachi, so I was a nice breath of fresh air

Something that I truly love about this fic, is how it remains relevant despite it being written before we knew the whole story with Itachi. Your take on it is something that I could definitely see happening in Naruto despite it not being correct. I honestly hate it when old fics feel outdated because of new information, and this fic doesn't.

One the the glaring negatives in the story though is how little time is dedicated to Itachi actually learning magic. For instance, when Itachi was shown copying how to become an animagus from Mcgonagall, it's not mentioned again for several chapters, and it feels forgotten until Itachi magically (pun intended) knows it, and him learning how to do it is explained with a sort of flashback. It would have felt much more planned has you taken a section of a chapter and dedicated it to Itachi just figuring out and perfecting the technique on his own.

Overall, this was a superb story, though there are a few little things that I'd like to mention. Shisui killing the clan was a good twist, and it was both unexpected and predictable as all good plot twists are. I think that some more time could have been spent developing Sasuke and his grieving of his family. The golden trio was wonderfully written, and I love the comparison between them and a genuine team.

Anyways, this review is getting kind of long, so I'd like to finish it off by just giving you kudos and encouraging you to continue writing. After this, I plan to check your profile to see if I can find any other interesting fics so... until then 3.

This is far funnier than it has any right to be.

This seems like it has so much potential, but the whole 'Not telling Harry' trope started turning me away from HP stories. I will keep reading as I see it did pretty well in the reviews/faves etc. I was kinda hoping Itachi would train Harry a bit. But then again... This is only chapter 1... the best might be yet to come... so I look forward to seeing this mystery unfold... :D

Well, about halfway through on this now, and I've gotta say. I was quite confused at first about Itachi and Shisui's "blood pact" until I realized that you must've written, or at least started writing, this before the reveal in the Manga/Anime of his true motives. I'm definitely enjoying this fic and will continue reading it.
