That was... adorable!

Despite the depressing undertones, this was hilarious. Great story!

I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my seat, though the ending sobered me up somewhat. Goodness, this story is both morbidly sad and hilarious in a water-spitting, knee-slapping way.

"MY Silmaril!" Good heavens, I nearly lost my wits at that one. It would be a fun game to play, to be honest... I could do it with the cutlery when I put away the dishes. I can't play "MY PRECIOUS!" around the house because my mom's ring is very firmly affixed to her finger and my dad's reflexes are too fast for me to snatch the shiny stuff... Not to mention my sister would cry if I tried grabbing her plastic rings...

Ah, this was one funny fic! And the mental image of Elros having a read scarf around his head to play Maedhros is hilarious!

Wow. I can actually see the children doing this, unthinkingly playing out the most terrible wars between elves... and the Feanorians stare in shock, half-amused and half-horrified. "Must... have... shiny!" actually pretty apty summarises the war of the jewels...

It's cute how Elrond and Elros emulate Maglor and Maedhros, really lovely. And the way Elros gleefully welcomes the idea of acting out an attack on Earendil is sort of scary... They have gotten the general idea, indeed. I suppose it's natural for children living in a fortress of the Feanorians to play such games, and it's at once funny and sad. The one uplifting details is how they divide into factions at random, not by race of kindred - even if the adults are not siding together out of loyalty, the kids are free of prejudice.

Amazing story, I enjoyed it a lot.

Oh my gosh. This is amazing. I can so clearly imagine children (and I love the idea of having lots of children living in Amon Ereb) playing at war… and then trying to organize a play-war as complicated as The Silmarillion. (Actually, I wish my friends were like that.) It's also extremely well-written which just makes this perfect scene better.
Maedhros and Maglor are perfect with their reactions and I love this part especially: "The children had not divided into factions according to race or kindred, but seemingly at random."

Cutest. Elrond. Ever. I came in warily, expecting parody, but this I can believe happening. It's the angsty!humor that always gets me.

LOL! I could totally see this taking place... Poor brothers... The boys are not going to forget their game that easily. They're having too much fun., I really enjoyed this and it was really well written. great job!

I really love stories about the time when Elrond and Elros are being raised by Maedhros and Maglor, and this one is probably my favorite. It has just the right amount of humor and sadness, and the Sons of Feanor are extremely well characterized. It also makes me really happy that the remnants of Maedhros' Easterling allies are still with him. I always wondered what happened to them.

Read this ages ago and never reviewed. Fantastic. It's brilliant and humorous (yet has poignant moments) and is immensely quotable. My faves are "You will take these Silmarils from my dead, cold hands!...Which will never happen because they are burning me! Ouch!", "terrible music" and best of all "But. . . can we attack the heavens?...They've got a Silmaril". Brilliant, my friend loved it and she's not even a Silm fan.
