that was really bittersweet, something similar happened to my dad except with his voicemail. For some reason our phones don't always give us a voicemail when we get them. Sometimes we don't get a voicemail for a day or two or even longer. My mom called my Dad on her cell phone the day before she was rushed into emergency surgery. She never woke up from the surgery and spent three days in coma before she died. The next day my dad got her voicemail, it was horrible and surreal at the time, but he never deleted that message because it was the last recording of her voice that we have.

ah, hell. that was completely unexpected. talk about sucker-punched. it was all i could do not to cry :( so very sad. poor Kate..
