When yelling "this is IP-SWITCH" and kicking them into ditches and pot holes, keep an eye out for abyssal PLOT holes to kick them down as well. I'm sure those are far more cavernous than anything you'll find within the canon.

As an OC author myself and a fan of some OC stories, I can still honestly say that you have spot-on points. Most fan fics that center around female author-created protagonists are irredeemably boring, not to mention hellishly written.

If I had a nickel for every 'Sister of the Brothers' or 'Cool Yet Completely Invisible Potential Girlfriend Chick' fic I've found (and not read, because after the first chapter and the attempts at introductions following the line 'Oh, yeah, and by the way, my name's Haley and we're going to be great friends!' I mean, seriously, I don't want to be your friend until you buy a dictionary and a personality), I'd have enough precious metals to form a fantasy bullet that will blow the dribble that I am now, unfortunately, permanently scarred with, out of my brain.

And yes, I am being critical, but seriously: if you're gonna write about a character, do not abandon the Laws of Common Sense, Basic Plotlines, and Explanations! Great, so Tyler has a twin sister who has powers and is in love with Reid. That's fantastic. Just tell me why! And it can't be something along the lines of 'Because they looked into each others eyes and fell madly and passionately in love and the Fates were like 'Oh yeah, who's the puppet master now, Bi-atch!' Cause teenagers are always thinking about love and never wonder about sex. They're teenagers, people: while intelligent thought has been known to occur, for the most part, love is usually proceeded by groping.

So...in conclusion of this long-winded and extremely verbose rant (directed at flamers and Sue writers), I would just like to say thank you - especially for pointing out the repetitive plotlines of the Daughters of Ipswich stories. For God's sake, people, warn us ahead of time before you write this dribble so we know to avoid it! And read before you write cause chances are pretty damn good that this great idea you have about writing a Daughter of Ipswich fic that nobody has ever thought to write before - probably wrong.
