Holy this is such a cute story like ej;iogwleiugnejlwkbg I cannot wait for the last two chapters!

If you think natto sounds bad, try smelling it...Ick. not only are a lot of things fermented, a lot of stuff is pickled. Seriously, my grandmother took the rind from a watermelon and pickled it, the house smelled bad for a long time, and let's not forget pickled cabbage, that is a smell I can truly say I will never forget...*shudders* You kinda made me hungry with the tamagoyaki comment, whenever I don't eat much my grandma always shoved some at me because she knows I'll eat it...hmm...too late to raid the kitchen...crap. Anyway, moving on, this story is adorable and Kenshin's stories are very entertaining.

I love how you counterpoint each Kenshin and Kenji moment with Kenshin sharing a bit of his past. It shows true trust building as Kenshin gives of his own history while protecting, teaching and loving his son in the present. The vignettes stand fine on their own but I do hope you post the last two someday.

these are too cute! it's depressing to read fics that have kenji hating kenshin and i'm glad this is different!

This story was recommended to me by a friend, and I have to say, I'm glad she did. It's very cute and I like that Kenshin has the stories to tell his son.

However, I do have to take exception with one thing: as a mother of a four-year-old myself, I find it highly unlikely that Kenshin would leave Kenji alone in the house as you've had him do in Ch. 3. Even if Kenji is sleeping and Kenshin thinks he'll be back before Kenji wakes up, leaving a young child alone without an adult around is just asking for trouble.

Natto's actually pretty tasty, if you can get past that it smells like barf and looks like snot. M...natto...Anyway. *cough* Another cute story. You do a good job of crafting Kenshin's parental characteristics, though why he lets his 4-year-old son wield a kitchen knife on his own is a little unnerving. Great job!

Laughing mushrooms, awesome. I love the Hiko-Kenshin dynamic in the manga, so I like how you weave in tales of Kenshin's own 'youth', such as it is, into the story. Another cute chapter!

Another cute chapter. Sano's explanation for his height is amusing and so very in-character. Good job!
