BEST CHAPTER EVER! I loved that it was so cool and AWESOME! I am addicted to this fic! :D
RJF chapter 10 . 1/22/2009
Can I just say what an utterly awful person I am? Seriously. I can't even remember if I ever responded to your PM way back in August, and it seems my Sent messages expire after a while. But if I didn't, I am truly sorry. I've read chapters 8 and 9 but I didn't want to just leave you a review of a few lines, and I never got time to do the kind that I usually do. I'm picking up from where the story is new to me, so I've got three chapters to work on over the weekend. Along with a new episode, I hope you enjoy this too!

Your description of the hellhound works on multiple levels. For one, you're giving us a better idea of the creature than the show, with its measly budget, could ever render. Also, while you're giving a detailed and sensuous description, the phrases you're choosing are still giving the reader enough room to take your description and build their own intricate, horrifying picture of it. It doesn't even sound like a dog any more. And I guess we now know how Sam got injured in the prologue. And, sadly, that also proves that his plan ultimately doesn't work. I love how Sam's fighting technique is so different to Dean's and so much more calculating. Although, given Sam's track record with fisticuffs, maybe Dean's methods are better. :P

I'm enjoying the contrast in this scene - we've spent a lot of the story in the snow and the cold (Whether it be Dean's personal state or the weather.), so it's not only nice to have such a vivid scene, but a warm and earthy one too. Although I'm just as confused as Dean is. He seems to be experiencing everything through Sam, so why is he still not in Sam's body in the memory? Hmm... I'm enjoying the back-and-forth conflict as well. And OH! I love how I actually picked up on something that you had intended to point out, with Dean being cold for so long. Awesome. Haha. Is it possible that Sam was somehow able to banish Dean into his memories? Is that part of keeping him safe? Keeping him locked in such a hard place to access? And as this scene goes on, I'm starting to think that the side of Dean that wants to stay in the memory is actually SAM'S voice. I'm going by how even young Sam is trying to hide the wound on his arm, which is clearly an echo from the current Sam. We'll see if I'm right though.

I had to read this over a few times to fully get the gist of what was happening. I get that the memory has now become a giant symbol for the current situation, but did little Sam change into big Sam while Dean was trying to take towards the shore? And I'm assuming this is where you start a mindfuck of your own? Haha. I'm reading over this dialogue again and again just for it to make sense, but I think I'm getting the gist of it. There are bursts of present Sam in past Sam when Dean wills it to the surface with his questions. Oh, and this:

“I…I can’t…” His little face grows hot as he fights the tears. Dean doesn’t crowd him, just waits for him to spit it out. Sam takes a breath and looks up at Dean with reddened eyes. “I can’t think about Mom,” he confesses in a whisper. “I don’t know what she looks like.”

Is the single most heartbreaking thing I have ever read in this fandom. The way you've managed to work in Dean's self-worth issues is fascinating as well and it's only strengthened the power of Dean's voice that you've captured so well in this story. And just how much to I love the fact that the Impala also has a place in this trippy chapter? I like how you've juxtaposed Dean's love for the Impala, seeing it as safety and sanctuary, while Sam sees it as a prison. It's an interesting concept that I haven't seen used in fics where the boys are... boys. Haha. It's frightening to think that a 9 year old could even think like this, but it does make sense that, in all their efforts to protect Sam, John and Dean are only making matters worse. You've also switched the roles of Sam and Dean very well here; with Dean now resenting being in the car instead of Sam.

Wow... That entire sequence was incredibly. The horrific nature of Sam's injuries, and how Dean managed to heal him up to the point where the entire process was actually doing more harm than good. Although I was kind of expecting there to be some kind of residual injury as Sam was still torn up pretty bad in the prologue. I also liked how you made the bitter chill of Dean's current state return, and how that was the first thing he was aware of when he tore out of Sam.

I was enjoying the small break of humour with the use of Dean's disembodied voice until Sam clearly thought that this entire ordeal was over. I'm glad Dean doesn't, as he has a point: there's nothing stopping the Crossroads Demon from trying to get him again. The midnight deadline means nothing. She can just keep coming at him until he's in Hell. That doesn't mean, however, that I'm on board with Dean's new plan! When will either of these two learn that running away from each other never works out for the best? Sigh.

Great chapter, and such a magnificently thought-out and portrayed crescendo for Sam's plans and the hellhounds and the deal and the demon and everything. And now? I continue to the encore. Although perhaps not tonight, as it's three in the morning here. Haha.

Hope you enjoyed the new episode! And I hope this review, and the promise of two more, makes up for my pitiful silence over the last few months.

OcherMe chapter 12 . 12/23/2008
Wow. W. O. W.

I think I need to let this sink in for a moment. It took me about 36 hours, but I read this whole fic. Which is impressive since my mother was glaring at me the whole time for being on the computer all day. But I have to say, this is probably the best written Supernatural fanfiction I have ever read. I don't even know where to begin my review. You write the characters beautifully, so that I could actually believe what they were doing, and they acted as they would in the actual show. Very well done. You write magnificently.

And the plot. I don't even know how to get into that. It must have taken you life ages to figure this all out. Its amazing. I must say, its a true pleasure to read something as well thought out as this. A fic that the author truly pours everything into writing, not contenting to post something they aren't completely satsified with. This fic has been anything but that, I'll tell ya.

You have had me on an emotional rollar coaster the entire time. First with the tear-jerking prologue, which most certainly had me hooked. Then Dean's freezing spells ending him up in the hospital. I was actually shaking at the point. It was so intense. The dreamwalk scene was another one of my favorites. It is so rare we actually get to know what Dean is feeling, and that Sam truly sees how Dean feels. I saw a side of Dean in your fic that is always there, visible only when Dean lets his guard down. Very well done.

I loved how you wove the different plotlines in. That takes alot of writing skill. To have all the issues included, without one outweighing or overshadowing the other. You combined the issue of Dean's deal along with his new strange disappearing/energy sucking ability, along with Sam's side and Aree's story expertly. Always with enough humor so we, as readers, don't feel bogged down and too depressed by the weighty subject matter of this fic.

I could go on, but I think I would bore you. All in all, what I'm trying to say, is I am very impressed. I don't normally take the time to write this long of a review, which goes to show how much of an effect this fic has had on me. I can already tell this is going to be the kind of fic that I get mixed up with the actual happenings of the show:)

Very good job. I sincerely look forward to your next update. I cannot wait to find out where this is going. I have absolutely no idea what is going to happen to Sam, and most importantly Dean (I am a major Dean fan). I will eagerly be checking my email for the next update! Thank you for writing such an amazing story!

Katiki chapter 12 . 12/23/2008
Wow. Your scenes of wee Dean and Sam after the fire are just perfect. They are now part of my personal fanon. It was very moving and I could just see it happening that way. John becoming so upset at Dean's questions about his mother he yelled at him to be quiet is the perfect explanation of why he stopped talking.

And man, those shadow people are creepy-ass creatures! I'm impressed by how you layer so much psychological depth into all the action-packed tension. The way they broke Sam fit perfectly with his character.

I'm very intrigued to see what Sam has planned!

And BTW, Happy Holidays!
Chiiyo86 chapter 12 . 12/23/2008
Uh, I forgot to review, sorry!

Amazing chapter, as usual (repetition does not makes this statement less true!). The two dumb teenagers make me laugh so hard :"Excitement orgasm, dude" LOl!

It was interesting to see the moments when the brothers connect from Dean's point of view. And the Dean's childhood memories were so heartbreaking and so damn cute. You made me cry. I want to hug both boys.

See you in next chapter!

M, I love nougat. And only two chapters left? Wow! Great chapter. Nice balance of humor and horror. Stupid kids. Yay Ellen! She's so awesome. OMG, Bill Harvelle's ghost! Cool! And the flashback to just after the fire, oh man, so heart-breaking! :( Yay, Dean and Sam managed to get through it! Heh, only to incite a war, oh those Winchesters. This story's so great, nice and long and rich and full of emotion, such a great read. I'm looking forward to more!

Katiki chapter 11 . 12/14/2008
Wow! You just never let up the tension on the rack, do you? It's pretty intense! The boys are certainly having a couple of really bad days. I hope they catch a break soon. (And I hope Dean gets his body back, because really-a body like that would be a shame to waste!)

I can understand why it takes you a while to write these chapters-they're not only long but very involved and very honed. That said, I'm glad we're getting another one soon.
