Reviews for Deguello
fs440 chapter 24 . 6/30/2019
Trish, this story is very nicely done! Thank you for posting it. It is one of the most "Star Trek" stories I have ever read on FF.
I just read your bio and I'm intrigued by the genre's you wrote but didn't post. As I Spy and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (even Battlestar Galactica) are some of my favorite shows, I would love to see those stories here regardless of if they need a little editing! I see you haven't posted anything in several years so you might not even see this, but I hope you do and consider posting your other stories. - fs440

I really enjoyed this story. You write all of the characters well, but you wrote Dr McCoy exceptionally well in my opinion.

The only part I take issue with is Spock not killing Kor. I realize that action was essential to your plot but I just don't believe that's the way it really would have gone down.

Still, well done. One of my favorites!

I just finished it today, and this is absolutely one of the best fanfics I've ever read! I don't know if you'll even see this review after all this time, but you really should write more TOS fiction. You captured all three of the triumvirate's personalities perfectly, and gave them each a good amount of time. I especially loved how you wrote Spock and Bones's relationship- particularly in chapter six.

Also, including Kor was brilliant! I loved his reactions to Kirk and visa versa in Errand of Mercy, and wished I could've seen more of it. Even though the Organians were pretty obnoxious.

You succeeded in bringing me close to tears several times in the parts where Spock and Bones feared they would lose Kirk, and then when Kirk thought that he'd lost everyone. You also made Girard an interesting character that I was fond of by the time she died. Her short-lived relationship with Jim was sweet, sad, and didn't feel forced- though it easily could have in less capable hands.

I found this because someone recommended it, and I hope it never gets buried.

Nice full-length adventure.
Eryniel Alasse chapter 24 . 9/29/2016
A brilliant story, well-written and well-executed. Thank you for sharing.
WeirdLittleStories chapter 14 . 3/30/2016
"Spock briefly wondered how he had not heard the Commander's approach."

When characters wonder something like this, it's usually a sign that your plot doesn't make sense and the characters are protesting. :-)
WeirdLittleStories chapter 11 . 3/30/2016
This is an interesting story; I always love Vulcan telepathy.

But claiming that the Enterprise had been destroyed is an obvious ploy on Kor's part, and I don't think Kirk would have fallen for it.

Great plotting and characters. Imo there are one or two logic holes but they don't take much away from a well written and engrossing story. Ty for sharing it.
tanseynz chapter 23 . 7/26/2015
Ayelbourne, under his own strictures, was therefore acting illogically by letting Martina Girard die, given she only supported the captain and kept him from dying as best she could.

Hmm they haven't had food or more importantly water for thirty-plus hours and they can carry on a conversation? Nuh uh.
Guest chapter 24 . 5/25/2015
Excellent story. Thank you.

Thank you so much. I can't say anything else...this awed and captivated me to the fullest. Well done.

Brievel chapter 7 . 3/11/2015
I've only watched snippets of the Original Series, my sister has watched more. She was assuring me you're one of the episode writers incarnate, and in my limited knowledge, you do indeed, seem to be one of the writers incarnate. I've always preferred reading to watching anyway...
Crescent Moon Dancer chapter 24 . 3/11/2015
Well.
...Well!
I don't know quite what to say - or rather, I don't know quite where to begin. Usually I leave a review at the end of every chapter of a story I love, but this one held me too riveted to pause at the end of each chapter long enough to leave a decent comment. So please forgive me on that point.
I guess first of all, I have to compliment your writing. I swear you must be one of the show's writers, one of the show's writers reincarnate, or the world's best Star Trek TOS fanfiction author. And if it's the latter, you deserve a medal. That's all I can say. You absolutely nailed the characters - every single one of them - your phraseology made the emotion almost tangible and the mental images crystal clear, the technical language was impeccable, as was Spock's personality and typical form of speech. This story is just...amazing. Really. Just amazing. I felt like I could be watching an episode of TOS, only reading it instead. I can't believe how well you did this.
I alternately laughed and winced through this whole thing, and now that I finished it, I'm weeping salty tears in profusion. Partially because of the affecting ending, and partially because I've finished a truly magnificent story and now have no idea what to do with my life.
