Reviews for Weapon's Waltz
objectivepersona chapter 9 . 12/21/2017
this training camp reminds me of Academy of bloody mist.
objectivepersona chapter 7 . 12/21/2017
this is so weird. I can't see zaft actually doing this to their soliders. they're very progressive and know, or at least many do, that this won't instill confidence into the system, if this is how they treat their subordinates. mind, curfew was broken and a lesson was needed, but this is barbaric
Shaman Tonberry chapter 12 . 1/31/2014
Boy, was that a long time.. Anyway, as you know, I'm not particularly fond of this chapter. For quite some time I thought it was due to the fangirl vibe, but it's something deeper - the inconsistency. We see Eclipse through previous chapters, shunning her feminine side for the most part, not expressing interest in the opposite sex, polishing her skills as a soldier.. Enter canon Redcoat cast and she's stunned, speechless, almost drooling.. Not like a soldier, but a fangirl meeting her idol. And even if they were 4 Adonises, whom imho they are not, it would still not justify such a reaction in an elite soldier. One would think that such training would include conditioning not stand agape while facing attractive members of the opposite sex, because that could make a difference between life or death on the battlefield. Apart from that, the chapter was fine:) Moving on...
Death-Scimitar chapter 60 . 12/31/2013
So what did everyone get for Christmas?
-
Lexi and Namarra had managed to find gift bags for all the presents and successfully stuffed each gift into a bag with tissue paper thrown on top to – not add any type of decoration – hide the gift. They would have just stuck with newspaper or torn up magazines, but Namarra pointed out that it might look a little tacky. They were lucky that they had found a store still open on Christmas Eve to purchase the necessary items.

Along with purchasing the gift bags, Namarra pick out a number of different candy bags for the kids. Lexi gave her a pointed look, but she just shrugged and said, “We’re leaving the 26th; we don’t have to deal with sugar-high munchkins.”

Christmas evening, they made it to the orphanage where the small party was being held. The kids were just being ushered to the bedrooms as Namarra and Lexi entered, the gift bag handles looped their forearms while their hands cradle the small packages of candy. The two of them were effectively ambushed, almost losing their grips on the candy.

“Easy there kiddos,” Namarra laughed, lifting up an elbow that had a five-year-old clinging to in between the packages. Lowering him to the ground, she spread open her hands and revealed the treats. “Help yourselves.”

Lexi knelt down and patted a girl on the head. “Merry Christmas, enjoy the candy.”

Mrs. Yamato made her way over, trying to round up the children again. “Merry Christmas, Lexi, Namarra. The others are waiting for you.” She glanced down at the kids, giving them a disapproving glance when she saw that many had already gotten into the treats.

“Let them have a few pieces,” Namarra said, “since they have to miss out on the party.”

Mrs. Yamato rolled her eye with a small smile. “Let’s go, children. You can have one more piece before bed if you’re all good while we read our story.” The statement was met with cheers and ‘thank yous’ as the children followed Kira’s mother to the stairs that lead up to the bedrooms.

The two unlikely comrades made their way to living room where everyone was waiting. They were relinquished of the gifts they were carrying, letting Cagalli and Lacus place them under the tree. As soon as their hands were free, Waltfeld motioned from his seat to DaCosta to get them some coffee.

Despite the joyous occasion, Kira looked worn around the edges of his eyes. Namarra didn’t bother to glance at Lexi, knowing she had noticed it as well. Athrun seemed to hover close to Kira’s elbow, trying to get a smile from his friend. “Now that the stranglers finally made it, let’s start opening gifts.”

The gathering situated themselves around the room. Waltfeld sat in a rocking chair, making jokes about how he felt like a grandfather and poking DaCosta in the ribs who stood next to him, asking him if he had been a good boy for Christmas.

The pinched look that appeared on DaCosta’s face had the two berserkers wondering just what that had meant.

Cagalli and Athrun shared the love seat next to the tree, their fingers entwined and shoulders pressed against each other.

Namarra really hoped that they wouldn’t start displaying more affection than that or else she internally swore she would gag. She and Lexi were sitting across from the love seat occupied by the love birds, using chairs that had been brought into the room from the dinner table.

Lacus knelt next to the tree, declaring that she would be the one to hand out the presents while Kira took the last dining table chair between Lexi and the standing DaCosta.

“Request, Lacus,” Lexi said as Lacus began separating the gifts. “Could we do Waltfeld’s gift from us first?”

“If it’s alright with everyone else.” Getting no objections, Lacus smiled and pulled the bag out and moved to hand to Waltfeld.

He accepted it with grateful smile, balancing the bag on his lap as his one hand pulled the tissue paper away. Reaching in he pulled out a familiar tiger mug with a bag of coffee beans.

“It was you!” DaCosta shouted and pointed a finger at Lexi then shifting it over to Namarra, whipping it back and forth between the two.

Namarra blinked, then realization hit her. “MfromDaCoast!”

Waltfeld tipped his head back and laughed. He gave his former subordinate so much grief after finding out he had lost the two auctions. Not only did he still get the items, he also got entertainment from the menial tasks he gave to DaCosta.

DaCosta dropped his face into his hands and groaned. It was all he could do to keep from crying,
“Let’s have DaCosta go next,” Athrun suggested.

“Maybe it’ll make him feel better,” Cagalli added with a snicker.

Lacus grabbed an envelope that had ‘Martin DaCosta’ scrawled on it and handed it to him. He sighed and ripped it open and pulled out what looked like a letter. His eyes skimmed over it a couple of times before his gaze snapped to the former commander for was still admiring his mug and beans. “Is this legitimate?” he demanded, ignoring as Kira read over his shoulder.

“Why wouldn’t it be?” Waltfeld said airily.

DaCosta literally squealed and hugged the paper to his chest.

“What is it?” Lexi asked.

“Apparently 10 free passes to ignore an order or request from Waltfeld,” Kira replied.

“That’s… thoughtful?” Namarra raised an eyebrow.

“Apparently nothing else is going to compare.” Athrun said.

“Let’s keep this moving!” Cagalli exclaimed.

The rest of the gifts were passed out and opened, met with varying degrees of excitement as they were revealed.

Waltfeld received three different coffee beans (Kira, Cagalli, Lacus), a portable grinder (Athrun), and a travel mug (DaCosta); all met with amusement and enthusiasm.

DeCosta received a leather-bound binder (Lacus), personalized post-it notes (Cagalli), a utility knife (Athrun), a black leather jacket (Kira), a antique submarine mobile kit (Lexi), and a bottle of anxiety pills with a bottle of spiced rum (Namarra); he frowned at the pills until Namarra told him to read the label closely—turned out they were actually candy capsules.

Kira opened his presents to find a hand-knitted sweater (Lacus), a mug with a hand-painted profile of the Freedom (Waltfeld), a GPS tracking chip for Birdy (Athrun), a gift card (DaCosta), an engineering and robotics book (Cagalli), and a digital music player with noise cancelling headphones (Lexi and Namarra); he was pleasantly surprised to find that the book had been signed by the author.

Athrun got a large bag full of scrap metal and various chips and harddrives (Lexi and Namarra), a gift card (DaCosta, again), a mug similar to Kira’s but instead of the Freedom it was the Justice (Waltfeld), a portable welding kit (Lacus), and something that he refused to pull out of the box as he cheeks went red (Cagalli); Namarra tried to bribe him with more scrap metal to reveal what it was that Cagalli got him but he wouldn’t budge.

Lacus received a docking stand for Haro (Athrun), a star-shaped hairpin with a light blue sapphire in the center of it (Kira and Cagalli), a pair of chandelier earrings in the shape of wings (Waltfeld), a gift card (guess who), a starter set for laser tag that included four guns (Namarra), and a set of recordings on a CD by various artists (Lexi); the pink princess was further surprised to find that the recording included performances and recitals from people such as Nicol and Namarra, as well as others who had a surprising musical talent, like Neumann who played the saxophone.

Cagalli opened her presents to a gift card (it was becoming obvious), a silk green dress (Lacus), her own robotic bird (Athrun), earring studs shaped like roses (Waltfeld), a tactical strategies and analyses book (Lexi), a hand drawn portrait of Uzumi Attha (Kira), and a party card game for adults (Namarra); she was assured that the bird was only for an alarm clock and the beautifully shaded picture brought a watery smile.

Namarra received a guarantee chafe-free thigh holster (DaCosta), the pot for a special twenty-four cup coffee maker that was for both her and Lexi (Waltfeld), five pairs of wildly colored and patterned socks (Cagalli), a leather book filled with pages that had blank musical bars (Lacus), a gift card (surprisingly Kira), a new scope that had a universal attachment (Athrun), and set of throwing knives (Lexi); she immediately pulled off her plain white socks and pulled on a pair that were neon green with orange zigzags and blue 8 bit foxes.

Lexi got the actual brewer to go with the pot that Namarra received (Waltfeld), the same guarantee chafe-free holster but a shoulder rig (DaCosta), a leather journal with her name etched on the cover (Cagalli), a stitched, grey beanie (Lacus), a gun cleaning kit (Athrun), a pen with a matte black casing and her name embroidered on the cap (Kira), and a garrote and combat knife (Namarra); she had to punch Namarra in the arm when she remarked how everyone seemed to think that she would forget her name if it wasn’t on her belongings.

Yeah, that's all I got. It was going to be more descriptive but I decided to just list stuff (pain in the ass to come up with different gifts too...)

Not going to get to SS before the New Year, but at least WW has finally been reviewed... except for the random chapters that need to be done with the various villains... *sigh*
Death-Scimitar chapter 59 . 12/31/2013
I did mention how much I like Berserker Namarra, right? Right? She is just so much fun. Ok, maybe I’m biased, but she rocks. Actually scratch the “maybe” from the previous statement, I most certainly am biased.

I like the touch about the “rescue teams”. It never had been mentioned before (at least as far as I can remember) and does add a certain something to mention that there may still be people out in space, stranded and just what could happen to them well they wait to be rescued.

Yes, very creepy Namarra getting kicks from killing the scared, stranded pilots. Not someone I would like to meet in a dark alley.

The differences between Nam and Eclipse: Eclipse goes for all the buttons at once, Nam has to go through each one methodically.

Though, I will thoroughly enjoy the scene if the two end up berserk and make good on their talk about doing the most awful stuff of the century.

Poor DaCosta. When Watfeld said he would handle it, DaCosta probably didn’t think he would be the one mostly handling the berserk Nam.

“Clear!” the one word to that both Berserkers are going to have a strong aversion to.

Ah, too painful.

Now, what’s left to do is to figure out where everyone is going and what they’re going to do to pick up the pieces.

Laser tag?! Heal faster!

Yeah, I bet the CAs had a fun time bitching to each about their respective pilots and probably had a hell of a time doing more than just changing personnel files. I bet there’s some fabricated evidence somewhere of DaCosta downloading some sort of porn just for shits and giggles.

Hmm… how did Neumann manage to keep his composure around Nam?

Poor Murrue. And Erika with her sage advice.

Funny how Eclipse’s and Namarra’s conversation sounds very similar to our complaining about not shaving and still going out and playing volleyball or something. XD

Lacus is sure getting into the whole laser tag thing. Must be because she never really saw/took part in combat outside of a mobile suit or battle ship. It’s great that she’s the one who “kills” Kira. And basically wins.

*shudders* Nam, working retail?

More bias showing but still, Shinn! Chance meeting with Namarra! Yes!

And the big wrap-up, letting everyone know where who is and what they’re doing. And welcome Lexi.
Gundam Wing quote! XD

Onward!
Death-Scimitar chapter 58 . 12/31/2013
So this is a long time coming. I am hoping to completely catch up on my reviews by the new year. Granted, where you’re at now it will be the new year sooner than where I’m at, but I’m going by my time. Anyway, let’s get this started.

And here we are, continuing the epic battle for the fate of humanity. Though some may not care too much as to how everything ends as all as most of the world goes down with them. Looking at you Creuset and, in some way, Namarra. Of course in the latter’s instance machine damage can be a downer on the fun. Now it’s just going to lead into the sad stuff, but you switch gears to Eclipse before getting to the inevitable.

Yes, Eclipse the actual helmet console is probably better than the original targeting system, but maybe it’ll make a comeback later on. Hello, Berserker Eclipse.

And here comes the painful part. No, Mwu! Don’t do it!

Of course Lacus has to try and talk some sense into the ZAFT, but we all know that doesn’t quite work. So, the next best thing is to try and shoot the hell out of the rest. Despite your assurances, Cagalli, “trust us” is probably the worst thing to say.

And the Stealth being taken out by a small beam cannon? Not one even in the grip of any type of machine; low blow. Goodbye, Addict, hopefully the data transfer works. But, yeah, freezing to death in the midst of a war kinda sucks.

And the unlikely hero: enter Yzak.

Yes, Nam, you deserve a medal.

And the destruction of Jachin Due and Genesis trying to get one last shot off. Oh, let’s not forget to mention that Kira and Creuset were nearby. Wishful thinking, very wishful thinking.

Yes, Yzak, you scolding Eclipse to not die will definitely make sure she stays alive. I’m surprise she didn’t try dying just to spite you.

Welp, that’s the end of the fighting, now all that’s left is for everyone to pick up the pieces. Whether those pieces are of themselves or others’. Now there’s a different type of battle to be fought.

Nam is still berserk and people just don’t quite understand that it will not end well for anyone, especially for the people she is singling out. And my favorite part of this chapter: Namarra talking Kira into a corner. She hits on so many good points and puts Kira in a much dimmer light. It explains so much about his later “emo”ness. Berserker Nam is so much fun when she’s playing with people’s minds and perceptions.

Yay, next chapter!
Shaman Tonberry chapter 11 . 10/16/2013
Now, here's my next batch;] The improvement was impressive, to say the least. Those three chapters really got me caught up and my schedule was the only thing that prevented me from reading them in one row.

My only reservations concern this chapter. First one: the title very early gave away what's going to happen. It's not bad in itself, but I had the impression you were trying to create an aura of uneasiness and urgency. Once you actually know what's going to fail eventually, a lot of those feelings end up dispelled. Still, afterwards was an enigma and it was really well written, having the feel of a pressing predicament, a race with time of a sort. Second one: the whole part about the 'memory stick' being plugged into 'a modem' and downloading stuff on a 'laptop' that clearly wasn't there (but in Eclipse's room) didn't really add up and was terribly confusing, despite the fact that you can get the gist of it. Just my attention to details, I guess..

Reading on;]
Shaman Tonberry chapter 8 . 10/4/2013
Ok, time for my first review;] As per usual with long, completed works, I will sum up every arc. Wasn't sure whether to do that this chapter or the previous one, but since the former finally gave me some nice closure, I'll stop here.

Now, I know it was the start of the story and ages ago, so I'll withhold most of unfavourable remarks. Call it the benefit of doubt;] Anyway, the first arc had this Full Metal Jacket vibe, with obnoxious and scary officers vs. fresh recruits, still full of human instincts. a little rough around the edges, but good in overall. For a moment I was afraid there would be a hint of romance, but luckily nothing came out of it. Imho it wouldn't fit here.

I understand that Eclipse killing MR was very dramatic, but precisely because of the rules of drama, it was to be expected the moment he disappeared. Also, execution shots are done in the back of the head, not in the temple. At least when performed on a defenceless target, at point blank range, with a pistol. Also, struck me as a bit too early to introduce SEED mode, but I'll see where that goes.

What I didn't get was why FS and Stray shut out Eclipse so fast, after embracing her despite the MR ordeal. Both seemed kind of off, since there was no indication of reasoning (former case) or internal struggle (latter). Due to lack of either, both scenes felt a bit odd and rushed.

I suppose the main problem I have with the training arc is how everyone's keen on turning the recruits into cold weapons of war. Some sort of military drill is of course necessary and all, but there's a huge dissonance between your characters and how Athrun, Dearka and Yzak autonomous are in SEED. And the latter are supposed to be elite. Feels weird to have groups with such different conditioning and mindset be of the same elite breed. Still, benefit of doubt. I hope it will be explained in some way later on.

And seriously, glasses of coffee? Last time I had one it was in a cup;> But, enough with the nit-picking, reading on. It's getting interesting;]
OrangeP47 chapter 60 . 7/22/2013
And now for this last one. I always like chapters like this. Maybe even more so when they're connecting to something else rather than just being a wrap up. So much so that, as I've said, I rushed ahead to read this during my earlier catch up session, so that's why my reactions aren't "live", so to speak, as they were before.

Not much to say about the first two segments, kind of covered by my comments last chapter though. The new bits of information are more interesting now. And even by the section with lunch with Cagalli, I think I can see what you meant when you mentioned a potential political problem. Also normally I thought the orphans were kind of a little unnecessary in the show, but it's cute that Nam gets so attached.

Also always like the funny. The auction, while I could see it coming, was rich, heh. The classic slow internet excuse, DaCosta's lame internet name, just perfect. And also is the ending with Yzak mean anything in the larger picture... hmmmmm... Well I guess I said in the past how it would be a good combo... so if it does mean something, I approve ;)

Sorry if this one's a bit short, but I'm just itching to keep going to the next story, though after reading it It'll probably be too late... or too early in the morning, for me to form a coherent review.
OrangeP47 chapter 59 . 7/21/2013
Running commentary again, which will be odd considering I'm talking to you about other things in the other tab at the time :P

You've really gotten good at making Nam seem creepy when need be. And the reaction is pretty spot on too, exactly how I would react. The foreshadowing was just right too. I dunno if it was the subtleties of the her word choice, but could definitely feel that the conformation had more impact that if it was just a sudden thing. The actual monolouge was good too, seemed a lot like an idea for Sin-ED, but by someone who'd lost it all up in the head from the start.

As for getting the jolt on Nam, as satisfying as seeing Watfeld surprise her, I swore for a second that the method of choice this time was going to be airlock, with potentially harmful side effects. Probably would have been too extreme though.

Not much to say about the rehab progression, other than it's nice to see both kinds of post battle scenes. And in a realistic way, a lot of people skip over that, and while it can be okay story wise, it's refreshing to see the realistic way. Especially with the psychology angle. Also really weird to see Murrue such a mess, but I guess it's to be expected. It's another angle no one looks at I guess. Also I hurt my knee awhile ago and reading this made it hurt again :P.

I knew the "game" for lack of a better term, would be fun, but I didn't anticipate how hilarious it would be. Lacus getting so excited is hilarious, as if friendly fire. At the same time you still perfectly captured her innocence regarding it too, heh.

I don't know what to say about the scene with Shinn, other than of course it would be Nam to find him. Did Death have anything to do with that :P Was almost hoping for something to change, but eh, guess we'll have normal Shinn to look forward to.

Since I've looked ahead to the next chapter I'll save a lot of the "where are they now" comments for then.
OrangeP47 chapter 58 . 6/17/2013
And same strategy again. My prediction on how unhinged Nam would become was slightly off, but probably for the best. Still at least somewhat functional I see, even if the immediate area around her is a very bad place to be for everyone :P Also you seem to have a think for opening that cockpit door every time eh? Not that that's bad, and different reasons are good. I think it made your ranged combat more tense, which is good, because of how your do melee better. I was also amused last chapter by the guy firing out with a handgun again, in mirror of the last fight.

Very nice work on the infamous scene with Mu's death. Blended in your own plot seemlessly I must say. Right up through Eclipse being spaced too. Rather enjoyed that. I suppose I have something of a morbid curiosity for such a situation x.x But yes, can't have it get too serious, we wouldn't want the star to actually die. As a self proclaimed "expert" on the subject I think you handled the scene pretty well from a technical standpoint too. Yzak being the rescuer was nice. Not only does he never get enough screen time but he hasn't been woven in as much as all the other ZAFTies either. Plus Yzak has such a special way of showing he cares ;) The rest of the battle after that... well, I know I say "not much to say" a lot, but really, this time I just read it straight through instead of stopping to comment here because it was able to draw me in that much ;)

The start of the post-battle was really "awwww" though. Grumpy/sad Nam makes me sad :P Touching that the people actually are there for her though ;) I think I remember saying a long long time ago how I bet she'd be with Lathen, though that's definitely yet to be seen fully. But yes, didn't expect Kira to get the "talking to" so soon... And more intense than I expected, and also more philosophical indeed... And kind of satisfying somehow, maybe Kira does need to be taken down a peg sometimes. I wouldn't pick right now to do so, but eh, some people are less worried about tact ;) Great either way.

I'll try and have the next review tomorrow but I think my time is going to be shorter then.
OrangeP47 chapter 57 . 6/16/2013
So trying something new, keeping a running review as I read. Something I was almost instantly thwarted in because along time ago FF removed the popup window feature and added this stupid embedded box. Oh well, Chrome has a "duplicate tab" feature.

Anywho, the actual review, with "live" responses so to speak. I must say Durandal is the last person is the last person I expected to come and get anyone in the cast out of a bind. Also nice weather comment. I've been doing some write ups in news style on a space colony news network, and I must say, not having the "and now the weather..." to fall back on is most annoying. Nice to see someone lampshade hang that. But yes, after the conversation was over I see how this makes perfect sense for Durandal. Typical. Can't help but see those scenes in Destiny with a new light now...

The reveal of GENESIS to the TSA crew didn't have much impact at first, but I guess I was hoping for surprise where there clearly wouldn't be any, but that's just me. I did enjoy the musings by the planners after that, though. For as much as I like to stratigize, I never really thought about why the EA attacks like it does, or even what the Archangel and Co was doing during Boaz. Granted, seeing as you're changing things up, I guess I shouldn't expect everything to play out as in the show. Hmmm, prediction now, you're going to up the body count somehow?

As for the repair scenes, typically they don't hold my attention well, but I really like how they're having to scrape together spare parts. It always gets me how after nearly every battle pilots can go back out looking like they're flying something brand new. Just once I want to see a series where the damage lasts over much of the show. As such, I appreciate how you handle it here. I know it isn't the first time, but the most noticeable so far. Oh, and maybe I missed it before but yay for a flamethrower. Everyone mobile suit needs one of those ;)

Oh, and a comment on the blind thing again (still number 1 fear btw :P) I think in one of the mangas there was a character that was blind but had special glasses rigged to her brain so she could see or something. I dunno, never read those, just heard about it. Some ZAFT test pilot I think.

Not much to say about a lot of the "waiting" scenes, other than that it's really good you add the small "humanizing" elements in. Don't take it the wrong way, I still really liked those parts, precisely for that reason. The little things like the gossip rumor mill are exactly what make those sections worth reading instead of filler. So keep that up ;) The same kind of goes for Eclipse's thoughts on the way to the main event, IE that intervention. Not like a battle is filler anyway, but you know what I mean :P

Part of the "live" part of the review: This line... "My machine's fine. I'm missing an arm, but that's a minor fix." It took me three reads to realize Nam was still talking about her mech, not her own arm, and I was like wtf :P My fault for reading late at night though.

Once more, not much to say about the battle I guess, though it was fun. I really like how Eclipse banters with Dearka, they seem to mix well. Good escalation as well, and also good showing how Eclipse now has more control over the rage. Oh yes, and Nam flipping off Azrael was gold, of course. Also it took me awhile to notice, but you REALLY have a thing for throwing melee weapons eh? Probably too late now, but in the future, maybe consider getting your characters a nice shiney boomerang type weapon ;) And as for the ending... uh oh... sadly, I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow to see how badly Nam loses it :(
Ghoulish Terror chapter 1 . 6/8/2013
Okay. To start it was nice to get a glimpse, however tangential of a less mad Patrick Zala. I assume his deterioration has already started but it was nice to get an idea of what he was like before tragedy twisted him up back when he was willing to go to bat to keep his son out if the program.

As for something a disliked. The chapter was a bit of a slow one. I realize there is setup to be done but with the way many readers are nowadays you need an attention grabber, something to keep them reading. This chapter, for all its merits, seemed to lack that.
Tristraim chapter 60 . 6/8/2013

*notices WW is done*

Yay! It's done! *pops champagne bottles for the party*

Gotta pat yourself on the back for finishing Weapon's Waltz. :P Sorry for the long-overdue review, life's been kicking me in the 'nards often.

On the ending and the snippets, it was nice, though it was a bit jarring from the last chapter. (Namarra going berserk and murderous is NOT a good sign, got to hand it to Waltfeld on handling that well) Seeing both Lexi and Namarra turn from peerless killers to babysitters and guardians was nice, though Namarra still has to work on a few things. Granted, Chapter 59 gave her an emotional outlet by way of her running amok and being shocked back to normal, as well as painkillers, rehab, and honest-to-goodness psychologists (finally, licensed therapists in a Gundam story!), and that lasertag match were good outlets of stress, even if they were shooting at each other (with lasers, but yeah). I really liked the lasertag match. It gave the feel that the worst was truly over. (then again, you are making another book in the series, so it's all up in the air if all hell breaks loose again.)

Kira's been torn open a hole twice already. I don't know what to feel, actually. Part of me's feeling sorry for the poor brown-haired Ultimate Coordinator getting the short end of the angst stick, part of me's applauding heavily since he always seemed uptight with his principles, and he never got to see the consequences of his actions. Namarra being tough on him did scare him a bit, actually. Though I'm not really THAT sure what's the difference between Kira's generic SEED and the Berserk state of Lexi and Nam, that's one of the things that I didn't see much in this story. Or... was there no difference at all? O.o One thing I'd like to see is Kira, Nam, and Lexi do an infantry fight together. (once Kira gets better or gets trained in hand-to-hand, of course.)

Heine... Him going to Durandal's list of good friends (aka dependable minions) has me worry. A lot. From the get go, Durandal raised Heine's suspicions, and so did mine. I'm looking forward to what Durandal will do in the next story, he always had something in his sleeve, always with a plan, and all that.

As for Alex Dino and Lexi being spotted dating, heh. Hehehehe. I can see a major friction point incoming onto the next story, if it does follow GSD's plot somewhat and Cagalli gets married off to Yuna for the good of Orb (please don't. That was the most cringe-worthy and pathetic scene in GSD, thank god for Kira flying in and busting the wedding.). Though I'm more on Heine ending up with Lexi, if it happens, rather than Athrun.

That's all, I might have missed a few things, and congrats on finishing your story! Looking forward to the next in the series! :)
WindblownTime chapter 1 . 6/8/2013
Given the relatively short length of the chapter and the number of reviews prior to mine there isn't much, if any ground left to break. However there is a point others have touched on that could use some expansion.

Several others have touched on the letters and their connection to Lexi's normality which is something key to maintain. On one level the difference between a Mary Sue and an effective original character seems to be power level but in reality that scale is highly fluid and is more dependent on the reader's ability to identify with a character. Those letters serves as vital grounding for lexi towards that end and help her avoid potential pitfalls.

On the unhappy side of the scale Lexi was the only character that was much more then a flat background here but that can easily be explained by a lack of time to do more then scratch the surface.
