In regards to the last bit of your AN, the point of reviews are for readers to give their feedback on a story. Mistakes are inevitable in anything, be it Fanfiction or published works. If someone were to point out a mistake on your story, you would (or at least in my opinion, should) fix said mistake and thank the reviewer for telling you about it. It helps us fix mistakes, and prevent them in the future.

Right, well considering I read this story back before chapter 32 came out, I was surprised it was neither on my follow or favourite list, making it difficult to find, since I couldn't recall the title, rectifying that immediately. Because really, even if you don't update again, this story is definitely worth rereading. I was also dismayed to find out I hadn't reviewed, but I'll do that now.
First: Love it! You do a great job of writing Itachi the human, rather than Itachi the piece of cardboard. Many others do it too, but more do not.
In fact, I think more than a few of the characters you have brought under your wing, have gained a more three-dimensional quality. And they are better for it!
Second: Personally, I enjoy your views of the powers and politics of the Naruto world and hope to one day see more of it. (Though dark!Tsunade there caught me a little off guard o_o)
And finally, Third: While I disagree with your dislike of certain pairings (liking all equally, as long as they are reasonable and well written), I appreciate the quality of written interactions between characters you've produced. As well as the quality of the OC's you've created.

P.S. One question that is bothering me slightly, and it may just be because this story was written before the scene I am thinking of in particular, but: Canonically, Deidara hates Itachi, how do you consolidate that fact with the bout of usefulness he displayed?

I am sligtly terrified to read this completely, since it was stated that it was planned to be 250.000 words and a 100 or more chapters, while it is only at 83,584 words and last updated 2 years ago:(

Wow. This was a pleasant and unexpected turn of events. I'm starting to like this story more and more, which is hard considering that it is already in my top 5 and i'm pretty sure no story will beat my top 3. But it is a close contestant, so far.

Wow.

So, Itachi mindrapes Sasuke and forces him to relive his family's deaths for three days straight, ripping away every last shred of happiness which he has ever gotten for himself and turns him into an insane avenger, then decides that "Hahaha! Fuck you Sasuke! I'm going to act like a patronizing shithead and tell you to randomly give up on your revenge because I got bored!"

I think this is the first time I've genuinely hoped that Itachi dies screaming in a fire, preferably after being castrated and repeatedly raped by a bunch of fat, smelly old men. Of course, considering how you seem to be in love with the character, this seems unlikely, but still, one can hope.

Also, seeing as you probably won't give the piece of shit the death he deserves, I'm going to stop reading now. Bye.

And I sincerely hope it is one. I am betting that this is going to be a considerably lengthy review - I do enjoy a good rant - so bear with me for a bit. I'm certainly not as intellectual as you obviously are (nor am I by any stretch of the imagination a genius), but I'm not exactly a mental slouch either, so this should be at least a bit interesting to read. :P

To begin, let me go right ahead and say that I am really, really (really) enjoying Memoirs of a Nukenin. Here are a few of my reasons, if you care to read them:

First: Memoirs is by far the most intellectual fanfiction I have ever read, and, consequently, is probably the most entertaining. When going into long, detailed expositions describing complex concepts or convoluted thought processes, most writers on ffnet quickly begin to "overwrite" things, resulting in me skipping paragraphs to get back to the actual story (note: I said writers, not necessarily authors. An author generally needs to be able to expertly manipulate the conventions of the language they are authoring in. Many of the "authors" on this site can hardly construct a coherent sentence to save their own lives). You, however, managed to keep me thoroughly interested through an in-depth description of the inner workings of all of the stages of the Sharingan, most of which I already knew anyways.

Second: I like Itachi, and I think he is not written enough in the universe of fanfiction. Plus, your portrayal of him is particularly, for lack of a better word, awesome. To be clear, when I say your Itachi is "awesome" I mean he is extremely well-developed and fills the role he plays in canon perfectly (barring his compassionately self-sacrificial death at the hands - or rather, near the hands - of his pompous ass-wipe of a brother) and then only gets better. The incredibly intelligent, cynically humorous, and passionately dispassionate personality is to Itachi as a key is to its lock: a perfect fit.

Third: There are only a few pairings I refuse to even look at (Neji x Hinata, Sasuke x most girls*, any yaoi, and any with overly large age-differences), and I am simply tired of Naruto x Hinata, as it is overused, often badly-written, and they aren't really compatible anyways. I thoroughly enjoy pretty much any other pairing, provided that it is well-done and does not seem forced, and Naruto x Sakura is one of my favorites, simply because I think Naruto deserves to get the goddamn girl he wants. I also believe that Sakura is really a nice person - even though pre-timeskip she was incredibly naive and unobservant - and she could easily love him if she gave herself the chance.** My very favorite pairing, as of now at least, is Naruto x Yugito. I'm not 100% sure why. Perhaps I like the idea that two people can have such different backgrounds, but also have so many similarities. Two people who stand outside normal society finding comfort and love with each other seems right to me. I am kind of a romantic; I like the lovey-dovey stuff, as long as it's not too overly saturated with mush and is generously interspersed with action and intrigue. I'm hoping there will be more of that to come. :D

So, that is more or less why I like Memoirs so far. You are a great storyteller, I like Itachi, and I like Naruto x Yugito. There are more reasons, but I'd rather keep this short (ha!). Now, let's see if I can find anything to complain about...

Nope, not at the moment. I, for one, have no problems with authors using their creative license to change canon events or other things like that, as long as it still is Naruto, and still is logical. I've read a couple of stories where Naruto goes away for a few years, then comes back as some crazy part-demon super-genius seal-master-slash-womanizer who has unlimited chakra, no problems controlling the Kyuubi's power, and can magically bring people back to life. So, yeah. That makes sense. As far as I can tell, your story follows the rules of the Naruto universe just fine, and is still wonderfully interesting. You are a phenomenal writer- no, author, and you share many sentiments concerning the Naruto universe with me. I await your updates to this story with bated breath.

Phew! I hope you don't mind reading all that. Thanks for spending so much time with this project for no tangible profit. I hope your life smooths out a bit; I've had a rough year so far myself, though likely not as drastically so as your past couple of years seem to have been. I have begun dabbling in fanfiction writing recently, and your writing is inspirational to say the least. If you wouldn't mind taking a moment to read what I've written up till now (it's not much, at least not yet), I would greatly appreciate any input or criticism you have to offer. * I say "most girls" because, who the hell would actually put up with his shit anyways? Even Karin doesn't like him anymore in canon, for Christ's sake. And I swear to God, if Sakura doesn't stop "loving" that self-righteous dickweed some time soon I will find Kishimoto and kill him slowly and painfully.

** The problem seems to be that she is so caught up in believing that Sasugay is redeemable that only a very severe experience (read: Naruto's or Sasuke's death, or the death of one of her friends by Sasuke's hand) will shock her enough to make her see reason.

I usually only do a review after finishing the story, but I just have to say at this point that you are the best writer of Killer Bee's lines I've ever seen. :D
