This is just all kinds of win. I love Kaku's groggy stream-of-consciousness internal monologuing, and his weary excuses (that don't even seem to be convincing to himself, poor guy.) I especially love the line about the birthday party thing not even being a good mock-insult for Jyabura. And I love how Lucci is just...Lucci, wanting to be asleep and being annoyed and faintly murderous that this goal is being made so needlessly difficult. Definitely fave'ing this one, and I really hope to see more from you!

If I may offer a bit of critique, though? You seem to have an unexpected change from past to present tense between these two sentences- "Kaku wasn’t even entirely sure if Lucci was actually awake, but considering he didn’t talk much when he was conscious, he couldn’t see him speaking in his sleep. Although he does make noises, Kaku thinks, but doesn’t feel as though he should know these things in the first place."

And, though this might just be personal preference, I don't think it really needs that line in which Kaku realizes why Lucci is sleeping with him. To me, it detracts a little from the early morning brain-haze ambiguity of it, which is part of what I find so entertaining about this fic.

All in all, though, I really love this and I think you're a fantastic writer.

you.. REALLY know how to write something down in a really good way, you know that?

Your style of writing really makes me enjoy your stories, and this story is also like this. I mean, I really like how you put down every character: you make embarrassing and wiggly situations, and then throw in some characters, and you always seem to really capture their reactions in an oh-so-cool and I-want-to-read-more way, but never, never written as out-character.
