I always paired Nev & Ginny, they balance one another beautifully, though Nev & Luna or Nev & Hermione (for Huna or Honks) are a fun match as well :)

The Hagrid arc was hard to read. He is a wonderful character.

I think you did fine with dumbles. He's a hard character to like given durzkaban and his interference in the muggle world to keep the authorities from helping Harry. I was midway through reading the second book when I started the line of questioning that made me realize the above. This just shows that you don't have to be a literary genius to figure out that Dumbledore was a machiavellian, hateful manipulator.

Solid chapter, good flow and I really enjoyed the use of the ghosts. I'm hoping that the toad suffers something much worse than Azkaban, which I doubt would have any effect on her at all.

Incidentally, why is "Betrayal" a warning?
Lucy and Toad acted according to their natures, the Old Boy's Club (wizengamot) just followed the blazing trail... Harry didn't really have any solid friends outside of those that he killed (and poor friggin Ginny, damn, that girl is probably happily drooling in a straight jacket!)... what / who was betrayed?

Oh wow, the twist with Ginny staying - and with such a good reason - really caught me off guard. Well done!

This is quite good, the fact that he almost got killed, had to up his training and most importantly, he had to find a reason to fight after all the people he cared about are now dead (well, not counting Sirius & Remus).

Not sure what your story would have to do with ANYTHING from canon going forward from Harry's arrest. The murder of so many key students and imprisonment of TBWL would cause the wizarding world to quickly buckle under lucy's machinations and voldy's eventual return to power. The fact is that I cannot comprehend how Sirius and Remus are still alive, let alone free and certainly not able to visit a (by now Voldemort controlled) Ministry stronghold.

I wonder why Voldy hasn't made his move with all the intervening time? In any case, I sincerely doubt anything will come of their capture unless he's porting them into Amelia Bone's sitting room. Even then the MoM was so corrupted that they'd be out on 'lack of evidence' since a muggle tape is obviously not legitimate evidence to purebloods.

Ahh, the curse from Umbridge really helps clarify things.

The magic system is ok. There should be grey magic for things like hair coloring, 'scorgify', breath freshening and so on.
He's a bit OP, but then you gave us that flat out in the A/N.
Third animagus form should be cool, looking forward to what a sea snake can do with Water Magic and what a Thestral can do with Air and Death Magic :D

My only confusion is 'calling Luna back' seems to have struck some hope in me that he'd actually get to bring her back to life. I'm heavy Harmony, but Huna is a lovely second. I'm sorry you cannot write Luna well - it's a very difficult talent, like getting the Scott brogue down if you're not Scottish :p
