Owch.

Seriously, owch.

I'll blame the fact that I should have been sleeping hours ago for not having remembered the drug until quite late. The 'rewind' of Euphemia, with /hope/ at the end, killed me. Not-saying is very effective. I was glad Kallen got to be Gawain, though. She deserved that, at least. Was it the suits that got this started?

I never quite sorted out how the Guinevere part fit into the Code Geass part, though I'm sure it would have helped pull the whole thing together, like the drug whose precise name I've forgotten. Ironic. (I just cheated. It's called 'refrain,' not remember or rewind or recall or reprise. One of your other reviewers knew, and I looked and came back and added this note. Hah.) Is it (Guinevere, now that I have cut this pronoun off from its referent) something of truth or justice, rather than a person? Because there was no such person. Not really. Not that I'm *counting* on anything, including the needles, holding only one place. Lelouch seems to be contriving to be at least three major characters at least part of the time, unless I'm mistaken. You know, I was never able to like either White or Malory's ways of writing, but I know what they said. (Why bother?)

Also liked what you did with Mordred. He's been in the story since long before Guinevere, or any of the knights. Even Merlin was another story that hadn't linked up yet, when it was first established that King Arthur had killed his son in battle. He was still Roman then. You know?

So...yeah, tad pretentious, but I can go right back at you, and I enjoyed it. Not sure whether the sleeplessness high improved or damaged it, though.

Um... Wow. I can't begin to explain how amazing that was. I'm just completely baffled, because I still can't believe there's such an amazing piece of literature on this site. Wow.

I'm not even sure I got everything from it, but I sure wouldn't mind reading this again because it was just so freaking beautiful!

Congratulations. I know this is quite old but I just HAD to tell you how fantastic that was. You're one amazing writer, and this just blew my mind, pretentious or not.

:)

mnb chapter 1 . 1/19/2009
Wow. I can't say I get the full meaning of this, but it was brilliant none-the-less.
Jacky-The-Ripper chapter 1 . 9/13/2008
I have no idea what this story is about, I was confused the whole time reading it. I thought, at first, that the characters mention were stand ins for the Code Geass characters only to be proven wrong as I continued to read.

I have no idea how the characters of King Arthur( I really don't know their tales though.) and the characters of Code Geass connect. But when I got to the end of this story, confused as I was, I felt satisfied. I felt like I loved the story, and even know I know I know nothing I feel like I understand it. (And yet I am confused.)

You're good.
SugarQ chapter 1 . 7/6/2008
beautifully written. wonderful premise.
Fledgling chapter 1 . 5/31/2008
I'm speechless. I don't know where to begin. I"m so speechless I don't even know what to say that's GOOD.

I admit, when I started reading this, I found it pretentious. Only because I couldn't understand all the references because I never did get around to reading King Arthur. I skimmed through the fic and thought to myself, "I'll come back later" when I hit the end, and all of a sudden I went: that's brilliant.

I'm just stumped by the amazing creativity you've shown in this story. I know that it would hold a lot more meaning to me if I knew the references, but I'll eventually get around to reading those and I'll get back to this fic. Once I understood that this was talking about refrain, though, man, it was the most wonderful experience reading what happened, backwards. This is possibly one of the most powerful fanfictions I've ever read, and the style in this seems to be quite a bit beyond the level of FFN. Wonderful work! I'm adding this to my favorites and will pimp it on my LJ.

...

wow.

This is...

This is LITERATURE.

You've actually brought tears to my eyes.
Short Hemline chapter 1 . 5/27/2008
Well, you can call "Juniper" pretentious if you like, but I love it anyway! Of course, I have a terrible pretentious streak myself, so I'm not necessarily to be trusted.

I will say that I prefer "The Fool Ascendant" to "Juniper." This is simply because "The Fool Ascendant" had a clearer connection to the characters. Sometimes in "Juniper" it felt like I was reading a King Arthur fic rather than a Code Geass fic, which would be great if I knew anything about King Arthur (I don't). Overall none of this matters, though, simply because your writing by itself is such a delight. For instance:

"He'd press a bow to his violin and make silences, and his neighbors would lose their smiles when he pulled the notes from the air but they wouldn't know who was responsible. Sometimes he sat and held a pen against a piece of paper, but nothing was written and nothing was erased."

I had a little trouble knowing who "he" was at first, but like I said it doesn't matter, because "he" could be anyone and your words about him would still be beautiful.

I also really adored the reference to Refrain toward the end. When it suddenly hit me what was going on, why Lelouch felt himself going backwards in time, I felt, well, so sad...it was great! I can't wait for your next fic :)
Leia-Kuroia chapter 1 . 5/25/2008
I've got one thing to say... that was such a cool fic! I really loved the part about Lelouch and Marianne! This will definitely go to my fave. stories! Keep writing!
