Reviews for The Thing With Feathers
riverrat1 chapter 1 . 7/11/2017
Beautiful story.
Goth Angel UK chapter 1 . 4/24/2011
Glad to see Snape's a favourite character of yours too :) Now that my curiosity is piqued by this story, I'll be off to check out the trilogy. Are you also a Snape-Granger shipper, by any chance? *throws a hopeful look*

Just one thing - I feel your Snape is a little bit softer than the way I see him, but I don't really mind that too much :) Just thought I'd mention it.
emptyword chapter 1 . 3/27/2007
Wow. That was breath-taking. I've read about two or three chapters into "A Potion Master's Apprentice" and then hopped on over to this site to see if I could locate you. I am not disappointed. Your grasp of Severus Snape is subtle and insightful; I buy into every bit of it. And I love most of all that you take the time to explore and gradually craft the story. No rushing at all.

Favoriting and looking forward to reading more. :)
Gedia Kacela chapter 1 . 1/16/2003
The title of the story drew me in... but the subject and quality of the writing kept me reading until the end. Beautifully done, without being too fluffy. Snape is a man, after all, right? *grin*

Loved it.
Bellemaine Chercoeur chapter 1 . 3/12/2002
Gorgeous. Lovely, adn amazingly effective. Maud is such a true character that she shines, and you grip of the canon characters are masterful and sure. A pleasure to read.
Sllea chapter 1 . 3/2/2002
What a wonderful interlude! I am amazed at the depth of feeling and emotion contained especially in the final scene.
Gwena Lanish chapter 1 . 3/2/2002
It is really interesting to see that scene from Snape's point of view. And its fun to have it all be an extremely elaborate plot. I love it! :)
Beck chapter 1 . 2/1/2002
oh, i *do* love that scene. it was always one of my favorites when it was in the series, and now that you've expanded it...good JOB dear, as always.
Quantum Witch chapter 1 . 1/27/2002
Very very nice, as all of your work is. One little note, that you might not know... In Kabalistic Magic, the letter Daleth is representative of the planet Venus, the planet of love (appropriate). The letter itself spelled out means "door" (which he is opening with his actions). On the Tree of Life, the path the letter falls on is between the spheres of Chokmah (Secret Wisdom) and Binah (Understanding). So... Was it a deliberate choice that you picked this letter? If not... then perhaps you had a little guidance from someone :)

Thanks for all the insights to Severus' mind and heart. Things I already saw there, you have brought into beautiful focus.

I too have a fan fic, written last year and just posted on today. I hope you will read it. It's a bit short for what I usually write, but it had tons of research (I am the "Research Queen", according to some folk).
Demeter1 chapter 1 . 1/25/2002
My biggest pet peeve is OC characters with Severus Snape... but your fic was the first one where I actually *loved* the original pairing with Snape. Maud Moody is just... well, perfect for him, I suppose. I also believe in part, that you made both of them human, very, very real. This was an excellent addition to your Darkness and Light series! Hope you write more!
Spirit Of Euphoria chapter 1 . 1/1/2002
I cannot believe you were flamed! Dogbone7 whoever he/she is obviously doesn't recognise good writing when they see it,because I thought this was wonderfully written.I've always wanted to explore a teacher/student relationship but I don't think I would be able to do it justice.I've not read your trilogy yet,but I'm on my way now :o) and I thought that this was MonteLukast said (quite rightly so as well) lines like "she took in her hand his..." don't really work for Snape and make us giggle uncomfortably more than anything she mentions it,I really can't imagine him doing anything along those lines either!

Anyway,I thought this fic was I could only write descriptions as half as good as yours I'll be happy :o)

Love Silver Willow
minaminamina chapter 1 . 12/1/2001
You've captured me once more, Anderson. I appreciate it, and love it. Snape is, as always, perfetly portrayed, as the harsh yet gentle, destructive but preserving, and amiguous character he is. "Oh winged demons of fancy and flight I doth take thou in'st my arms to hold and cry"-me, don't know where it sprang from.

It's wonderful, and I love to picture Alan Rickman filling in the role with pallid skin, an aquiline nose, long face, lionine body, and his milky baritone that patholigically enunciates every single word he says with a lazy glimmer. And how you help me picture!
Noodles McDoodles chapter 1 . 11/29/2001
A lovely piece when read alongside your other series. I would make one point though, (one I'm surprised that your betas didn't catch) which is to say that in the UK the last two years of secondary school are referred to as the 'sixth form' and 'upper sixth'.

Perversely seventh years are in fact those twelve year olds in their first year! Which rather unfortunately reverses the meaning of your lines completely. I apologise on behalf of my country *g*
MonteLukast had to log out to send another review chapter 1 . 11/26/2001
I also wanted to let you know that I have indeed added to my story "Things Unacknowledged", a chapter in Sirius' POV. Hope you like!
Serendipity chapter 1 . 11/26/2001
You're a magnificent author (something that I know has been said time and again, but bears repeating). I've dabbled a bit with Willow (B:TVS)fanfiction, and I know it can be challenging to nail the tone of a universe while still molding it to your own vision. I rarely read the OC stories, but yours was a bright and wonderful exception. It was creative while maintaining a semblance of credibility (an element that pushes it over the critical line between a good and a great piece of writing). Please continue writing in this fandom (it gives us all something to read when we're supposed to be doing 'work').

:D
