I've never heard of an infant or a toddler who held back his tears. How can he be old enough to know that crying would be dangerous?

When you say that the dunadain train with swords for the first ten years of their lives, does that mean that they begin sword training as soon as they are old enough to walk? I read stories where children 5 and under train with weapons even fight in battles with them. Some of them sounded and acted like adults.

I like this, but just a few quick corrections: Arador (Arathorn's father) was killed by Trolls, not Orcs, and Gilraen survived.

Oh, you bet I liked it. In the movies, Elrond's almost cruel. :P That's one part where I wished they followed the book. :)

Great story he wasn't called Estel until he arrived. I think Elrond gave him that name. It means Hope.

oh cool, this had some nice angst at the end and enough to be going on with in terms of interaction and family scenes. Estel asking for daddy and then confirming ada was my fav bit as was the flashback in chp4...liked it!

That was cool! Can't wait for the next chapter.:)

I like the idea that it's Elladan who gave Estel as his foster brother's name.

Good opening...even there're quite a number of stories already about how Arathorn died and Estel brought to Rivendell, I like yours being precise and keeping the right pace. Having Elladan hurt in the battle lead us to know that it's a hard fight. Anymore Elladan angst in future chapters? He seemed to be a caring brother to Estel.
