I loved this-I usually don't go for AUish "what if" scenario fics, but this one (and most of yours, actually) is/are an exception.

Wow...I had read and anonymously reviewed this ages ago, before I had a ff account. I'm still intrigued by the concepts you laid out here, and I believe this story was what made me fall in love with this version of Team Orochimaru. Still like how you used the cursed seal to explain Hayate's undisclosed illness. And I love the subtle humor with which you described the event that "...nearly resulted in Iruka losing an eye when Anko ducked and he didn't realise why." :) I also appreciate the correlation of Hayate's sword skills and Orochimaru's. It's a great blend of angst and humor (Kusanagi replaced by a chicken!) and a very satisfying read. I think I love this piece even more now than I did back then. So glad I found it again. Now I can add to my favorites.

I am also a big fan of Iruka/Anko. I liked how you made it so that Iruka and Hayate also had the unfortunate taint of Orochimaru to deal with. Sorta sad, but in a good for the story way.
