Reviews for Endure to Hope
Guest chapter 46 . 5/23/2019
3 years, still I check in, in hopes of an update. Too good to leave unfinished. Wish it would never end.
littlevamp chapter 46 . 2/23/2016
I've read every chapter thus far, and wow, what a masterpiece. The character portrayals are spot on, with plenty of interaction depth between them; it's so interesting to see different perspectives on each person. This chapter was awesome. I gotta say, I love Noah, and loved when he was Gabranth in the game, and you really evoke the unstable anger and wariness in his heart, especially when he's alone with his brother. He's gone through so much -both him and Basch- so I can see how the wounds with either are still fresh. Nicely done. The flow and pace are just right. Thanks so much for this lovely update, and writing this great piece, in general. Can't wait for more.-Lil V.

Hey, so it's been a couple of years, hasn't it? *cough* or more? Anyways, I was just re-reading this for the last couple of days and realizing how long it's been since the last new chapter came out. Then I checked your profile page to see if there have been any updates about your life, but no such. So how's it going? Is this Rosenberg bros story still happening?
frankannestein chapter 2 . 10/16/2013
Amazing. The play of these three characters together - it seems almost as if the darkness that comes from war hasn't left this place. I can see how Tarachande (did I spell that right?) feels that his whole life has been uprooted, and how he views Noah as a bit of a cuckoo. As for Noah and Faolyn, well - that bond was rather instantaneous, wasn't it?

Well. There's a lot to think on after an introduction like that.

This story (so far) has a truly elegant style. It has nice bits of detail that tie directly into the game - whether a visual description or a cultural behavior - and then it has these sweeping moments that are purely original. The boy, Faolyn - I'm connected with him already. This is a sad, lonely place, and Noah's introduction to it is truly like a rock thrown in water.

If I had to criticize anything, I would say that the early transition between the opening scenes and Noah waking up like a lunatic I got confused as to 1. Who was who doing what and 2. Why. I thought the old man and the boy planned to wake him up and make some kind of distraction, but then it turned out to be all Noah's doing . . . This is just my personal experience in reading, of course. :) I think it would help if less people were unnamed.

Other than that, this is beautiful! And sad. Did I say that? But where there is sadness there is hope. And, maybe, I have hope for both Faolyn and Noah.

This is a truly eloquent beginning to what promises to be an excellent story. And I love to see that it's been updated so recently. (Sadly, this fandom is pretty sparse in terms of new material because it's been so long since the game's release.) I usually have mixed feelings about OC's but your new characters fit so well that I have no complaints at all.

I'm replaying FFXII and I've discovered an unexpected love and appreciation of Basch and Gabranth. (I'm primarily a Balthier fangirl but I try to keep an open mind.) I'm really looking forward to reading the rest of the story and seeing what kind of backstory you've come up with for the two of them.

I've been following this for quite a while, and seeing a new chapter just genuinely excites me. Your writing is breathtaking! I must admit I'm head over heels with your version of Noah. After rereading and remembering the previous chapters, this one had such a rich emotional impact. You definitely convey their silent struggles with one another so vividly, which make their happy moments all the more enjoyable.

It's getting rather tempting to layout your available chapters into a mini print format I can carry around. I'll patiently await any new additions.

From a lurking fan, thanks always for a wonderful read!

I very much enjoyed this brotherly reunion. The tension between them was clearly evident, but they're slowly working through it. But they work so well together! Someday they might realize it.
Mistress Wiggle chapter 45 . 2/8/2013
Oh wow this chapter was just what we needed what a great and lovely way to intergate some renewed brotherly moments. I absolutely adored how they were written. I am hoping though that Noah doesn't meet his end, I view this as the sequel that should have been and I would much like if they got their deserved happy endings.

I am interested still in how Basch returning to Dalmasca to meet Ashe's end of the bargain ties in as well.
Stari chapter 44 . 9/17/2012
I just wanted to say that this story is quite possibly the best FF:XII fanfiction I have read. I am very glad I found it, and I never tire of reading it. You do such an amazing job with the characters, at least in my opinion. It all feels like it could, and should, be canon. (Honestly, even if they DID write more story for it, I would only think of this as the correct version. I find it that good.)
I hope you never get tired of writing this. And I look forward to the next update!
Ariels Lament chapter 44 . 7/31/2012
Wow...that was fast wasn't it?

Or maybe because of all the thought and depth put into this story I just automatically resign myself to thinking it will be months before the next chapter...I dunno. Sorry about the late response, though. I like to at least read it through twice or so before reviewing.

Haha! That's right Judge Magister! Continue on the family line before it becomes too late! XD When he was passing trough the hall with all the portraits and such, I was beginning to think along the same lines. And yet his father's request still surprised me enough that I laughed out loud! Ah, I do love his parents. I'd never really given much thought to his own family before...one kind of gets used to the video game mentality that Everyone is an Orphan. Or will be. And that grown adults especially have no parents...:/
Anyways, it was nice to see that side of his life.

You know that it just breaks my heart whenever a flashback of Noah and his ill mother comes into play, don't you?

An Faolyn's simple answer for the name Avalanche compared to Noah's is pure love. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens to Noah next!
Guest chapter 44 . 7/28/2012
Wow, especially with the length of these chapters, I wasn't expecting another for at least a month! This was a pleasant surprise! Thanks for the update, I've been hooked on this story for weeks now. It reads like a great novel. Great characterization and plot. ;)
Mistress Wiggle chapter 44 . 7/29/2012
Amazing chapter, it had so much depth to it. I loved the part with Zagaarbath's family, it was lovely they interacted with each other in a really nice way.

Noah's memories and his part in is old house were as good as they always are, you write Noah so dam well.

Fantastic stuff :3
Ariels Lament chapter 43 . 7/9/2012
And the first thing that comes to mind though I think it oughtn't be is: poor Larsa. :/ He just wants to be friends with someone his age-ish while kind of being a part of his uncle's and Noah's new life. My heart shattered a little bit along with his happiness when Faolyn wanted to go...

Ah drat. I'd kind of been hoping that Zargabaath had worked it out on his own sneaky self since he's noticed something off about 'Gabranth' the whole time. Ah well. It's really quite better off for all of them that Larsa let him know. I suppose especially with Ashe's request looming over the whole ordeal.

Tee hee, Noah. ''Which of us in the picture'! :P

Ooh...I don't think that Faolyn will take his leaving to Rozzaria well at all. This should be interesting...

In any case, very much looking forward to the next chapter. This is a one of a kind fic, for sure! :)
Ariels Lament chapter 42 . 6/9/2012
It took me almost two days to read through this, but I'm finally there! XD

It's so nice to see a fic exploring these two and their relationship with each other. I think it might even be the only one I've seen on here, though I may be wrong on that. I'll admit I spent much of the first couple of chapters pretty confused and a bit uncertain as to what I thought of it, but once I caught on to all that was going on, I couldn't put my phone down and stop reading!

It's amazing the amount of thought and depth you've added to the world in this. Plus I'd always wondered about Basch's own trials in his attempt to fill in Noah's role as Judge Magister Gabranth. Not knowing what his brother knew, not knowing fully the workings of the magistry, not knowing how familiar he was supposed to be (or not) with anyone who knew Gabranth. Mostly I'd just given up on the thought and decided that Zargabaath must have been made privvy to the information after the game and walked him through it all. Or at least what he knew of it all...But I like this road much better. :)

I also adore the flashbacks to Basch's and Noah's childhoods. It's so heartwarming seeing them get along. At least as well as brothers do...and it makes their present situation and recent past all the more sad for these little snippets.

I have noticed though, at least in a few of the last couple of chapters, that when swapping from pov's there was no marking for it. So I'd be a paragraph through and suddenly very confused because when did that character show up here? Oh, wait...they didn't. I'm else where now...I don't think that this has been the case throughout the story, and I don't think it was the case for this chapter either, but I thought I'd mention it...

Hmmm...there's a lot to say here...but I read a very lot in a very little amount of time, and the one thing really coming to me is: Aha! I wondered when Zargabaath would finally work it out!

Very much looking forward to the next chapter! :)
