Maybe Mako could share with Ami that she was NOT at her aunt's but 'hiding' as she did in the story "Allergic to Truth". Shared love always makes a holiday season that much better, and newly-discovered love (I feel that that would be what Makoto would be experiencing) is the sweetest of all.

Just a few 'nudges' as to what direction you, as the author, might try taking with this.

What if Ami bailed at the last minute, and just got her a new cheif's knife set. with the promise of something special. Or Matoko picked up a new boy-toy for the holidays, just long enough to get through new years.

It's always better to find a fling then admit some things.

So a quick filler, maybe some Mako. And Ami just keeps looking at the necklace secreted away in her computer-desk. Time passes, and... *stops to think* and the plot-bunnie escapes me. I have ideas just not the time or attention to "Just Do It".
