Interesting... but I gotta nitpick:

The waitress spoke Cantonese and Hak Foo heard her (so we suppose he speaks Cantonese) then mutters in Mandarin.

So are we assuming Hak Foo is multilingual? (English, Cantonese and Mandarin)?

Interesting take on the characters of Hak Foo and Chow being able to talk to each about a topic like discrimination based on appearance. They may be criminals but you showed they are human as well.

Very to-the-point. I liked it.
