This is well done. I like the idea of Charlie and Carlisle talking. Charlie is fairly suspicious by nature and profession, yet has decided not look too deeply into the Cullens. Carlisle's personality is naturally open, but he has to hide so much from humans. It's an interesting mix. I like your phrase, "I’m sitting, waiting in the most comfortable easy chair I’ve ever been in, feeling the most uncomfortable I’ve ever felt." It's a great portrayal of his feelings. I also like how you show Charlie's hostility toward Edward by having him always think of his as "the husband," rather than thinking his name. I like the warmth of the final scene.
