Reviews for The Three Lives of Luke Castellan
blue and gold chapter 5 . 8/7
Okay, this made me bawl my eyes out.

I just finished re-reading The Titan's Curse for the first time in years, and it's probably my favorite book in PJO, (even if it's also the one that hurts the most). Anyway, everything in that book regarding Thalia and the lead-up to her confrontation with Luke and decision to join the Hunters always kills me, and this fic is a great continuation and answer to a lot of the questions and...sadness I have about how things ended for Thalia. Like, she's happy with the Hunters, and being a Hunter isn't a bad thing, but she never got any kind of closure with Luke, and I can't imagine Thalia ever really being content with that.

Usually stories about reincarnation aren't my jam, but you struck a beautiful balance between capturing the autonomy and individuality of Adam, Jake, and Liam and the undeniable thread that connects them, Luke's soul. But what really made me cry my eyes out while reading this was your take on Thalia and her journey to a place of peace, both concerning Luke and herself.

Like, Thalia grappling with her memories and forgetting and mortality and immortality was really powerful. Her not remembering exactly what Percy and Annabeth look or sound like, or which kid of theirs she was godparent to, or her mother's face—stuff that would've come to her easily a few centuries ago—was so moving and very human, despite her being immortal. (The juxtaposition of that and her never really forgetting about Luke, or what color his eyes were, killed me.) Everyone's experienced that panic of forgetting something about someone that you know was important to you. And it kind of brought up for me how incompatible humans are with immortality—it made a whole lot of sense that after a couple of centuries Artemis would release human Hunters from her service.

But, yeah, it was beautiful and heartbreaking and a whole bunch of other emotions that I can’t name that Thalia remained steadfastly Thalia throughout all the centuries, and not just in her feelings towards Luke. Like you wrote, she’s still a teenager, still just as impulsive with the same bad temper and the same humor and loyalty. Throughout heartbreak and love and a whole lot of years she remained herself—and that’s one of the many reasons why I cried when I read this, (along with Luke finally attaining the happiness with Thalia that was stolen from him when it was only a possibility when he was fourteen).

Anyway, yeah, this is an incredible story—funny and moving and as deeply sad as it is indisputably happy. Thank you so much for writing it and putting it out there.

crashed the wedding chapter 5 . 5/18
this is like 11 years late I'M SO SORRY but this is one of the thaluke fics i will always remember reading. i may not know the details as much anymore, but i still remember loving each of the three lives because despite everything that luke did in the books, it's a shame that he felt that that was the only path for. i'm sure 13 year old me was just as, if not even more, elated than me over this.

i don't know if you'll ever see this author, but thank you again for writing this! and i wish you're doing okay in the middle of this pandemic. 3
OneDocToHealThemAll chapter 5 . 5/17
Nice story. I loved it. I think that immortality for the mortals is a bane and we clearly see that. All of Thalia's friends are long gone memories.

(I know I'm kinda late but oh well)

This was beautiful! So beautiful that I hardly have the words to describe it!

The books describe her as headstrong and confident and not afraid of the world, but you've done such an amazing job portraying the more vulnerable and emotional side of her. Every chapter was heartbreaking, but the one with Liam was even more so than the others. First was Thalia being let go after so long, and it was the perfect mix of good intentions and pure angst-I can't imagine how it would feel to be a part of such a close-knit, family-like group for so long and then being released like that, good intentions aside, because it's hard to let go of what you know best, even if the future seems like it could be ten times better than the present. And then it was just beautiful when they met/reunited and I was crying inside :) ToT

Anyway, wonderful story, and the ending was so fluffy and sweet and I love it :)
Caver Floyd chapter 5 . 5/1/2019
Awesome emotional story.
DarthDestroyer2 chapter 5 . 5/14/2018
Amazing. Very touching and well written. Plus unlike many Vic’s it’s readable because of the decent grammar.
Guest chapter 3 . 3/14/2018
I just noticed he's a father of three and we're never introduced to the third child...maybe the third child was the Thalia?
demigodace chapter 5 . 3/11/2018
Thank you for sharing this wonderful fic. Thalia and Luke very much deserves a happy ending. They're one of my ships that crashed during TLO so thanks for giving them a wonderful new beginning. I love your works and can't wait to read more. Happy writing.
