I've just read this. I haven't been reading any fic for ages as I've been writing but this is fantastic! Sizzling hot from start to finish. I actually held my breath as I read the bit where they were standing next to each other in Luigi's and Alex told him she missed him - wow!

You write really well from Gene's 've really captured his thoughts and motivations.

It was really interesting to read a fic completely from Gene's point of view, but you did it so well, and it definitely works!

I thought it was great to explore how their relationship HAS changed this last series. Somehow Alex is behaving much more like Sam did - taking this world seriously.

Oh, yes, this does work - not just doing the story from Gene's POV (I like "Sodding trout and flaming almonds") but also in the way you examine how and why their relationship has changed since Series 1 - his increased respect for her as a member of his team and his realisation that he no longer simply wants to get her into bed, that he wants her to want him and to make the first move. Their dialogue is just the same wary dance as we are seeing in S2. And the conclusion is far more satisfying then anything S2 has yet given us. Thanks for writing it, please write more soon.

This was fantastic! I loved the whole first section with Gene explaining his feelings- thought that bit was completely spot on! Loved the smut too- the line about "branding her with his own iron" made me laugh, as did Luigi's interruption! Also loved the bit where their hands were side by side on the chair back. . . something very intimate and sexy about that! ;)
