Oh wow, I didn't expect that. It was beautifully written and I loved every minute reading it.

Wasn't L the first person Light has murdered that was actually /known/ to him? I don't think Light is the type to kill with his bare hands, he kills from a distance, and the people who had killed before L were only names and faces, written off and easily forgotten. The death of L was probably the first time Light could feel the understanding of death - the lost of something that cannot be brought back. L was there everyday, and then he wasn't - and Light realise then, that he isn't god, because he could kill but he couldn't bring back the dead even if/when he wanted to - and that drove him insane.
