Good story. I can see that entire sequence between Spock and McCoy happening, in battle. And Kirk’s arrival.

Very nice story. Spock and Bones are my two favorite characters, respectively, and I've always loved how they manage that great combination of utter loyalty and brotherly love, and constant banter and harassment and exasperation with one another. Theirs is possibly my favorite of the many great Star Trek friendships, certainly of TOS, and it's nice to read someone else's take on the evolution of that friendship. There are great moments in here of both the caring gentleness and the barbed frustration that makes these two such a fun, awesome, utterly lovable pair. So, beautiful portrayal of the characters, nice plot for each section; overall just a wonderful piece. Excellent work; keep it up.

As much as I love this movie, the thing that saddened me was the somewhat lacking connection between McCoy and Spock that make their three-person interaction (involving, of course, Kirk) the shining light of the original series.

I'm infinitely pleased that there's a story about the slow emergence of that very thing kindling, and that it was done so well. Thank you )

And I think that is their relationship down to a 'T'. Loved it!
