I LOVED this story, it's so very well written! The 10th Doctor at this stage would be tricky to write, I think, since his own natural exuberance would be at war with the loneliness and the self-loathing, and you've captured the Doctor perfectly! Xon, I must say, made a scary villain and left me wondering exactly what the Doctor would be doing after his next regeneration. Pierce is so very well fleshed-out, I often found myself getting thoroughly irritated by him, and by the way, I loved the Doctor's comebacks to him! I just love it when he pits his wry wit against those 'military types'!

All in all, kudos again for a thoroughly amazing story, and thank you for the wonderful read!

This is just completely brilliant! You've got the Doctor down to a tee - his brainstorming babble, phrases, turns of speech. Hell, you DEVELOPED the Doctor's character! I wish u knew who Xon was, but he's a fantastic mystery... The whole story is very Canon and, frankly, the BBC Doctor Who book-publishers ought to take a gander at your work. Can't wait to see what you do with Eleven!

This story brings out some of my favorite things about the Doctor. The excellent character development wasn't limited to him (although I get chills when someone can develop the Doctor), but also to the supporting characters. Even the Raston Warrior. You used them to their fullest. I felt so hollow when Suzanne died... so afraid of Xon's last words, even though (because) they weren't threats or anger anymore... so wondering when Pierce decided to be human. I'll definitely read the sequel when I get the chance.

I loved this story! It could be an episode for the series that's for sure, and you captured Ten perfectly! Definitely adding this to my favs.

I both love and hate this story (and its sequel/prequel).

I love it because, quite frankly, it's amazing. You've captured ten just right and the other characters were well defined and I actually cared about them.

The pacing was perfect and you tied it in with other DW stories with enough subtlety that it didn't distract from the events.

The only reason I hate it is because I'm toying with some fic ideas of my own and you have given me one hell of a level of quality to achieve. :)

I'm actually out of superlatives for this story.

Eeeeeexecllent. It's often difficult to find Whofic of this length with good plot, fast pacing, and excellent characterisation. I love your original characters, by the way; your hints about their lives on Earth were just thorough enough without being overbearing. It was obvious Suzanne was a bagwoman as soon as she said "alleyway," but not obvious in a glaring, pushy-author sort of way. Simon was left a bit underdeveloped, but it works here.

Love your alien environment and your old school Who shout-outs. There's a good sense of balancing all the right details and leaving some up to the imagination. That leads to excellent pacing.

You capture the voice and energy of the Tenth Doctor and his Odd Doctor ways *excellently*. However, in the first 8 or so chapters I found myself wishing you'd go a bit deeper, explore his inner torments some. And then I got to the Doctor's epilogue, his talk with the General in chapter 10. That was exactly the sort of thing I was looking for, so thanks for including both Tenth Doctors, so to speak. This quote, I think, captures it best: "He didn't even have the decency to defend himself, to be an ordinary man and try to justify what he did, no matter how weak the position. He did no such thing. Instead, he just looked sad. Accepted what he had done and walked away, vanishing like dust in the wind." Truly an echo of the heart of the Doctor that survives every regeneration. Your ending ties in beautifully with the themes and mood at end of that season, by the way.

Two science-y nitpicks: "Equal and opposite reaction" was not discovered by Einstein. You're thinking Newton's Third Law of Motion, considerably earlier than Einstein! Albert's big contributions were with regard to relative frames of motion and the idea that time and space are inseparable.

Also, 1 metre 100 centimetres 1000 millimetres so your quote "one metre, seventy three centimetres and sixty six millimetres" makes no sense. The "sixty six millimetres" would equal 6.6 centimetres, which would make this measurement more accurately "one metre, seventy nine centimetres, and six millimetres," which is much easier to express as exactly 1.796 metres. That make sense?

One grammar nitpick: Half the time you get this correct, and the rest of the time it's horribly wrong. "It's" "it is" and "its belonging to it." As written "its'" is never correct.

very good chapter, although you use 'allons-y' a little too liberally. it's the imperative form of the french verb 'aller' (to go). 'allons-y' literally means 'go' or 'let's go'. apart from that well done! :)

Fantastic ending! You take something that made me smile the first time I've heard it, that line about how great the Doctor is going to become, the snap of his fingers, armies running away and all that stuff... And then you twist it upside down and inside out and make it something to be feared. I LOVE it when something makes me re-think some idea and see it from completely new perspective. And another amazing thing - you tied all those doubts and conflicting definitions about what it means to be human with the same uncertainty about who the Doctor is and who he can become. That's not just a nice story, this is some seriously smart writing. :) Thank you very much, this one goes on my favourites list. :)
