Heartbreaking and sweet...

i love this. even when they are apart Dean still takes care of Sam (no matter what) :)

I like this one especially. I thought when I saw the ep that Dean offering him the Impala kind of took the wind out of the anger they had between them.

Grrrrrr, I just wanna crack their stubborn stupid heads together and knock some sense into their fool selves. Damn Idjits anyway.

And the sentence where they listened to each other breathe was heartbreaking.

Oh man, powerful.

I think I found another piece of what I missed.

Dean was able to let Sammy go and do his own thing. I know it cost him to do I'm sure the price wasn't he has let Sam know in his offer of the car and all it's gear etc, and how he called him Sammy that he's still there for Sam if and when he needs Big Brother. This is something that Sam is slowly working our for himself in the story.

QUOTEBut there was absolute silence for a moment as everything Sam wanted to say ran into the wall of everything he wouldn't admit I think this sentence shows that difficult painful process of Sam working that out for himself so beautifully and true to life.

Suddenly Sam realized that Dean had offered him more than the car; he’d offered him the bulk of the weapons, the ice chest and beer, the really good first aid kit, the ability to get anywhere without hitching for a ride, a dry place to sleep when a motel wasn’t possible. He’d offered Sam the single biggest connection to their lives and each other.

What a wonderful tag, even if you did make me tear up at the end.

I love that Dean reminded Sam he could call his big brother anytime.

I found this piece really amazing. The execution is elegantly straightforward but the message is actually very profound, like the very phrase that inspired it in the first place. Your work really captures the characters in what depths Dean could have meant, and what that generosity and link meant to Sam. Great job and thanks for sharing :)

I didn't think there was much you could write about this ep that would make it feel better, but your "You can call me, you know" did it. A needed reminder their separation is neither complete nor permanent, and that there was still an awful lot of love behind it. Thank you for that.

Okay so, I will admit to crying. :P That was so sad, just like the end of the last episode. But hey, if the show has a moment like this in it, I will be happy. I hope it lets them stay in touch like you are in this oneshot. Thanks for this. :)

Nice oneshot and I'm glad you talked about the stuff on Dean calling Sam, Sammy at the end.

Excellent reflection on Sammy's part. I loved how he went from perceiving the split as total rejection to realizing that by offering the Impala, Dean had clearly stated just how much he still loved his little brother. Although Sam would never have taken the car, knowing full well that it was Dean's, and both know it.

The phonecall at the end was definitely inspired and I adored it to bits and pieces. I wish the show would see it in the same hopeful light as you do.

Thank you for the wonderful tag and I'm totally with you being saddened beyond measure by their split, though I feel like it was kind of necessary for Dean to realize how much more worth his life is with Sam in it.
