I'm a newbie to fanfiction; so, what's canon mean?

I loooved Magnum and I looove Blue Bloods.

You did a good job conveying what a good father Magnum COULD have been had the scripters actually decided to have Lily be more than a fleeting plot point. Hated that they barely gave a thought to her after she survived the car bombing that took her mother's life along with after her father came back to life! Yeah, one would have thought that Magnum might have considered raising and protecting his motherless daughter to be his TOP priority after nearly losing his own life but no, they had her barely mentioned and shuttled off to who knows where after he decided to rejoin the Navy.
