Is brilliant too effusive? Nah, don't think so. Alas, it appears you have sins left untouched. Nonetheless, I'm glad for what I got. Thank you.
LouiseKurylo chapter 3 . 12/14/2014

Nicely worked out personification of pride. Jane and Lisbon are very in-character. Eager to read the next. Thanks.

I'm incurably sad you didn't continue this incredibly well-written series.
MiM99 chapter 4 . 2/5/2012
Well, so I doubt this story will be continued, seeing as it was last updated in 2010, but I still wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed reading it so far. It's fantastic, very true to the show, I think. I'm still hoping that you'll finish this someday!
sharpestsatire chapter 4 . 12/28/2011
*sigh* Updated sometime last year. Any chance you'll post more? *hopefully*

I don't want to add any extra guilt to your plate but I would really love an update - your writing is sublime.
LunaLove chapter 4 . 10/26/2010
This really is one of the best stories out there. And that's including all other fandoms.

Your prose is natural and flowing, your characterization spot on, and your understanding of the human mind (and the differences from one person to another) is flawless.
Cathartes chapter 3 . 10/25/2010
Ha ha, I made it! I must have missed this during my summer hiatus from the fandom but it's so beautiful - I think it might be my favorite of the four of them, even though it probably has the least to do with the prompt. I love how complete each of these stories are - they each have a plot that could carry a whole multi-part fic, but you keep them at one page. Not surprising the updates take a while - what do people expect!

I don't think Jane is meaner in this series than he is in the show - it's just that the viewpoint of the show is that he's charming and irrepressible and we're supposed to forgive him (even Lisbon seems to forgive him without thinking about it too much), whereas in this story we actually see the consequences of what he does. I'm so glad you resolved the Bosco storyline, that's been driving me nuts although it *is* par for the course - in TV land characters rarely linger long on the fallout of past episodes, presumably because the writers think it's boring to have them moping about and prefer to steer them into active roles again as quickly as possible. I guess that's what fanfic is for!

The point is, great job, these are so touching and perfect for the characters. I admire how difficult they must have been to write!
forthecoast chapter 4 . 10/24/2010
Okay, so I've read this three times already. Each time I think it just gets better, really.

First off, STILES. You wrote him perfectly, and I'm so glad you included him in this. I LOVE IT. Playing on Lisbon's fears that way, and then sparring with Jane. I love Jane so much in that scene, which is weird for me because late S2 I was more irritated at Jane than anything else. Thankfully S3 has remedied that so far.

A whole new reason for drunk!Jane, which was pretty much awesome. The Mother Teresa reference, and their MO when things get to personal - LOVED those details. And then the end, which is maybe one of the hottest things I've ever read in fic. I mean that. I want to revisit the fact that he's thought about where Lisbon's spot would be. I know Yana already mentioned this, but really, we've got to get some real M-rated material out of you. I am officially putting in my request.

VERY FAVORITE, though, was Lisbon not giving up hope for normal someday. It's one of the most fascinating things about her character, IMO, the realism combined with optimism. I love that you hit on that in this. THEN AGAIN, as you can see, I love pretty much everything about this in general. This is absolutely one of my favorite fics in the fandom, and I cannot WAIT to see what you do with anger.
Cathartes chapter 4 . 10/23/2010
OK, I am going to have to go back and read this series from the beginning because apparently I have forgotten some of it, so be looking for a more cogent review here soon, but let me just say right now that I loved this chapter! Jane is slippery as a fox himself and I agree with you, love the Bret Stiles scene (and he is in season 3 as well, with some kind of weird Red Jane connection no less) so it's great to have him on screen, I kept thinking he was going to have lust for Lisbon but I like the way you took it even better.

Poor Jane, this is how he strikes me on the show too: he genuinely does care about the team and equally genuinely plans to betray them and kill Red John. I think he would definitely allow Teresa to get hurt or even killed by his thoughtlessness if he thought he could get his revenge, even if he regretted it later. Yes, he kills Hardy but that was a spur-of-the-moment thing. There's a lot of scenes in the show where he puts her in the line of fire through his mechinations and doesn't even seem to notice it. Like with Van Pelt in this most recent ep. Or when he was sneaking his brother out and could have had instigated a shoot-out with Lisbon behind the door. Long review but my point is, great job this was so fabulous.
