Reviews for Odd Man Out
Astris C chapter 1 . 6/15/2017
This is a beautiful story, and that was the best way to break up. Ever.
Symphony In Blue chapter 8 . 3/5/2010
That was a great ending to the story!

Call me a hypocrite, but I instantly started to like Tony a lot better the moment he broke up with Purdey. It's true that they really weren't right for each other, but Tony's not a bad man and he wants to see Purdey happy.

So all's well that ends well :)
Sac-a-puce chapter 8 . 3/3/2010
Sweetly wrapped up. Nothing wrong with a cosy feel-good ending when the right notes were so brightly played in the previous chapter. One of these days, I'll get around to watching some TNA and you will be the reason.
Maude Gun chapter 8 . 3/3/2010
That was the inevitable ending. I imagine it must be harder for a woman in that line of business, to separate the personal from the professional. It's nice that you made Tony a very reasonable type, rather than a jerk. I think that was brilliant. He's just not right for Purdey. She needs more of an action man. Hmm, I wonder who fits that bill? ;-)
Maude Gun chapter 7 . 2/26/2010
Great chapter. I really liked the image of the three of them alseep on the couch. Cute and innocent like a bunch of puppies.:-)
Symphony In Blue chapter 7 . 2/24/2010
Great chapter! Just the right amount of seriousness but nicely mixed with some hilarious Purdey/Gambit banter.

And of course Steed's going to suggest brandy while Purdey's thinking about marshmallows!
Sac-a-puce chapter 7 . 2/22/2010
I am enjoying it all, but this chapter was definitely the best.
Symphony In Blue chapter 6 . 2/20/2010
I know some things between the 3 of them might seem odd to outsiders, and it's understandable that Tony feels left out. But still, I really don't like him :P I'm really starting to wonder what Purdey sees in him.
Evalyn A chapter 6 . 2/14/2010
Poor Tony, you've got to wonder why he sticks around. On the other hand, Purdey sure doesn't seem to pay a lot of attention to him - what is it she sees in him?
Symphony In Blue chapter 5 . 2/8/2010
“Sauce? A nice marinade? Why don’t we add—“

“No gin.”

“No bitters.”

“But—“

“And no marshmallows.”

“The trouble with you two is you have no sense of adventure.”

“The last ‘adventure’ cleaned out my whole intestinal tract, thanks.”

“I have things well in hand, Purdey. If you could confine yourself to the chopping…”

“Oh, all right.”

There was a pause.

“What about—?”

“No vodka, either.”

This should've been in the actual series! It's brilliant, and so typically Purdey.

I wonder what she's going to ask Gambit..
Symphony In Blue chapter 4 . 2/4/2010
So naturally he followed them, and of course he intervened with an operation and nearly blew it. It's good that things are out in the open now, that Tony knows more or less exactly who Purdey is, and hopefully he won't question her again and will trust her from now on. The way Gambit tried to explain certain things to Tony on behalf of Purdey was very sweet of him and completely selfless. But I wonder how the 4 of them will cope for a whole weekend at Steed's place. That should make for a few very interesting situations.
Symphony In Blue chapter 3 . 2/4/2010
It annoys me that Tony mistrusts Purdey, and that he'll even go as far as following her. Who says she's not keeping her word? I mean, a meeting doesn't necessarily mean that they have to stay in one place all the time. The could easily quickly discuss something and then be off somewhere else for some form of business. Having said that, it might be a mixture of mistrust and curiosity that drove him to following Purdey, Gambit and Steed. But it's still not right.

It's not that I don't like the Tony character, but I'm starting to wonder what Purdey sees in him.
kst1233 chapter 4 . 2/1/2010
I am loving this story! I really loved the small discussion about the difference between an agent and a spy.:) There was mention on the forum about a fan recreation of The Avengers. If that were to ever be plausible, we would already have our writer. Can't wait to see more of this.
Lisa Paris chapter 2 . 1/18/2010
Tony's way too pompous and disapproving for Purdey - and for heaven's sakes, the man can't dance!

If he's freaked by a couple of little bruises, what happens when he sees, say a bullet wound, or Purdey deadly and agonising over a hurt or missing Steed or Gambit?

Good stuff!
Symphony In Blue chapter 2 . 1/18/2010
Great chapter. But it's safe to say that I don't like Tony one bit. :P

Let's hope Purdey and Gambit come to their senses soon, and realise what's been right in front of them all this time.
