This story is definitely going in to my favorites.

I'm a pacifist. This struck like a fist to the gut.

That being said, I love how you handled this.

Groove is supposedly the pacifist in the Protectobots, but as I said, I like how you shifted it to First Aid. I also like how you explained Groove's willingness to go into battle if it'd spare First Aid. Ironhide's stubborn determination to get First Aid to use a weapon makes protective parental sense, how you wrote it.

My favorite character, however, is Slingshot. He's a combative, conflictive, wary 'bot, but when it comes down to it, he cares more than he wants to give away.

This is a splendid explanation of why First Aid will not pick up a weapon. I just adore you so much for writing it. It was painfully beautiful to see how his spark and core coding deal with these issues, making him the amazing medic he is.

Not to get all religious, and I hope this isn't offensive, but Aid is sort of a Jesus figure to me. Not as in perfect (not that I really buy that part, anyhow), but someone who just clearly reflects the spark that is Primus to others, and through his love, healing, and goodness can change really horrible situations for the better. He just seems to see the best in everyone and wants to heal everything that is hurting and of course he could never do harm. It would, literally, kill him. Kill who he is. Break his spark for real :(

I love your take on him and his whole gestalt, and there is just no way it won't be my head canon.

I still need to review the story where he gets injured in the first place. It was just so moving to me that it deserves a more thorough review than I have the energy for at the moment, so that window is still open to remind me.

Beautifully done, and so OC that it brings tears to the eyes. A lovely story.

I absolutely love your Protectobots. Innocent and wise, somehow. The childlike phrasing ("It had eyes") to convey exactly what was wrong about shooting the drone, and the way Hot Spot knew immediately what to do.

Also, speaking as someone whose stubborn bronchitis has me hopped up on some really fun prescription cough syrup right now? Drugged-up First Aid is totally win. ("I Left My Spark in Praxus" indeed!)

Aw, that was rather sweet. I enjoyed the emphasis on brotherly protectiveness, and the ever-present conflict medics have to deal with when they are in combat zones. Every doctor who took the oath, yet also swore to defend his country, has to come to some sort of internal resolution, even if it's a different one for every doctor. We can see here how Ratchet, Wheeljack, and First Aid have fallen at different points along the spectrum, with Aid way over on the extreme end of pacifism. It's probably the most dangerous place to be, but he can't force himself to be any different, and so there it is. Sad, but commands some respect. Perhaps First Aid should read a little of Gandhi's work; he'd probably find it interesting.

Oh sun and moon! This is unbelievably entertaining AND heartbreaking at the same time. it's brilliant and it is ::squishes heart:: ::explodes::
