Actually, about the bit about Winry being cute, *SPOILER ALERT* it originally appeared in vol. 4 of the manga.

It was after Lab 5 when Winry first comes to Central. She thinks that her automail failed Ed and starts to worry. Ed thinks she's cute and comforts her by saying it wasn't her fault and it kept him from getting hurt more. She is immediately cheered and starts talking about her fee for coming to Central. That's when Edward thinks 'She's not cute at all!'

Sorry, couldn't resist the urge. : P

I LOVE OHSHC! And American High School has 4 years, but it isn't a big deal, and I love your story! :)
