Dear friend, this is just gorgeous. I'm days late but I'm so glad I saved this story until now. Your first paragraph is now copied out in my notebook and I'm re-reading it and savoring it and memorizing every nuance in it. But there are so many perfect phrases in this. My WA knowledge is limited at best, but you're quickly drawing me in. There's a richness in this small story that feeds a very hungry part of my mind (all your writing does this, but the layers that drift up in the steam of the tea cup here are so fragrant). This is just marvelous and I'm so happy that you're posting again.

It's so nice to see a piece from Kou's point of view. Your language is beautiful (although like Zan, I admit some of it probably went over my head, too). Enjoyable!
