Guest chapter 1 . 11/13/2016 I started to laugh and I ended up crying. :'( |
shyfoxling chapter 1 . 5/24/2011 Well done! Although TBH I was kind of hoping for a non-canon ending, because as it is it's really a downer, and makes the use of Seuss come out as black humor. Still though, neat idea. |
Young Just Us chapter 1 . 1/22/2011 I absolutely love this! Really brilliant, good job. It's my favorite take on Snape's worst memory, all the rhymes were great. |

sasha2010 chapter 1 . 3/11/2010 Very Clever! Bravo! |
duj chapter 1 . 3/10/2010 Oh, no, that's not so. It was James hated Snape Because James wanted Lily; That Quidditch-mad ape Had been trying and trying And here's where he won. It had taken five years But at last it was done. First he pounced on poor Snapey Right out of the blue, With his doggy best friend And the rest of his crew, Before Snape had even seen That they were there. No wonder the Slytherin Had nary a prayer. And the bully who hexed Snape Because he existed Won the day and the girl. My, this tale's *oh, so* twisted. Poor Snape was left mourning The rest of his life. But James fared much worse; He got Lily as wife - She might have been pretty, She might have been clever, But she was the least caring, Worst "best" friend ever. |
AfraidOfFalling chapter 1 . 3/10/2010 Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. You are very gifted at rhyming-I myself cannot manage it at all... A beautiful rendition of Snape's Worst Memory, this is. A wonderful view of Snape's emotions, and an interesting context. I like that you change it slightly by having Lily draw her wand immediately rather than wait until after they've hexed him twice more. I also like how it's a rather backwards version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas-instead of the heart of the Grinch growing multiple sizes and becoming a friendlier, happier person, Snape's heart is completely broken and by the end of this story he becomes much more like the Grinch at the beginning of the Grinch's story. 'Tis fascinating, powerful, beautiful, and comical-in-a-tragic-way-very well done. I love it! Keep it up, and happy writing! |
