Reviews for The Havens of Sirion

good story
Darkover chapter 1 . 2/14/2011
Dear Inzilbeth: This story was very moving, but realistic, too. Maedhros and Maglor were both intimidating, but I could believe that your version of Maglor would protect the twins, and in due time even be a loving foster-father to them, as Tolkien wrote. You are a good writer. Thanks for writing and posting this story. Sincerely, Darkover
Canafinwe chapter 1 . 6/12/2010
I've been frightfully remiss in my reviewing these last months: please forgive me! I shall endeavor to make up for lost time.

What a heart-wrenching and beautifully crafted glimpse into this terrible night! You've captured it all so well: the mounting dread, horror of realization, Elwing's loneliness, her desperation, the dreadful choice she is forced to make. You illustrate perfectly the tragedy of this young, wounded woman - hardly more than a child herself - caught up in the errantries (and the evils) of this most cataclysmic time in the history of Middle-earth.

I also love your illustration of Maglor: level-headed despite the inflammatory situation in which he finds himself, desperate to ameliorate the wickedness of his family's deeds, and driven just as much by love of his brother as by pity for the sons of Elwing.

A mournful but beautiful portrait of a night that swayed the balance of the War of Wrath... bravo!

Very plausible. Nicely done.

This was great. I always look forward to reading fics on the sack of the Havens, maybe because Maedhros (confession I fangirl him a lot) just appears.

But anyway, this was one of the best (if not the best) one that I've read so far. It's written really well: easy to understand, but really intense. Good work! ;) I look forward to reading your other works on the Silm.
