There is plainly a very real risk that impressionable children, who of course comprise the principal readership of the Harry Potter books, will be directed (e.g. by a search engine result) to your sexually explicit web site, which you will appreciate most right-minded people would consider wholly inappropriate for minors. Plainly the warnings to the effect that children under 18 should not access your website do not in fact prevent minors from doing so. Indeed, such warnings may well serve simply to entice teenagers to your site.

In the circumstances, our clients therefore request you to remove all such material and cease making it available on the internet or by any other means. Would you please let us have your continuation that you will do so by no later than 18:00 GMT on Friday, 20 January 2003.

Sorry, but I disagree with you. The rules are in place, and are clearly stated. I don't know why ff is doing this now, but it's about time. I am a reader, and I have 3 children, ages 13 to 16, all readers of ff. Some of the stories lately are nothing but graphic sex, and some of these involve explicit sex (consensual and non) at age 11 or younger. This, to me, is unacceptable. I can keep them away from adultff and similar sites with parental controls. I would prefer not to have to 'ban' this website from my kids as well. Under the Terms of Service:

"7. Account Termination Policy

A. will terminate a User's access to its Website if, under appropriate circumstances, the User is determined to be an infringer.

B. reserves the right to decide whether Content or a User Submission is appropriate and complies with these Terms of Service for violations other than copyright infringement or privacy law, such as, but not limited to, hate crimes, pornography, obscene or defamatory material, or excessive length. may remove such User Submissions and/or terminate a User's access for uploading such material in violation of these Terms of Service at any time, without prior notice and at its sole discretion."

It is evident that ff does not want pornographic or obscene material. Many authors write limes, infrequent lemons, or simply have 2 versions (a cleaner one for ff and a more explicit one for adultff, AOOO, etc.). Lately authors are simply placing the explicit versions of their stories here and on adultff (or similar site).

Personally, I would prefer to have this site readily accessible to all, and keep the restricted material on an adult site.

And yes, I am submitting these comments anonymously, as I do not wish to be hit with PMs disagreeing with me. I am a writer here as well as an avid reader. And I would think that just as there are readers that will agree with the petition, there are readers who will not.

You said the book voldemort was pathetic but what about that duel with Dumbledore in the ministry at the end of the fifth book. He used a bunch of cool spells and all of them were wandless. In the second book, his horcrux's teenage ghost controlled a basilisk. The defenses he placed on all his horcruxes. He was badass.
