So, I very rarely read anything less than M rated stories (don't know why, because there's amazing stories out there but it's just a bad habit) and, even more rare than that, I don't read stories I know have sad endings. It was quite obvious this was not going to be a "feel good" story but I read it anyway.

And oh my goodness! It was so short but so good! It was sad and sweet and sad and beautifully well written and sad! Not gonna lie, I totally teared up almost immediately and I couldn't help but cry in the middle.

Really, REALLY well done! I wish I could have read more happy times between them but I've been a sucker for backstory. If ever you decide to add to this, or another one-shot about their life together beforehand, I'll be the first one there!

Sorry for going on, but I just wanted to add that Jack and her were just so sweet! That 'I'll protect you now'! Gah! Break my heart! Amazing! Love love love it!
