What a terrific story! It moved at a great pace. I was glad you didn’t drag out the time that Gibbs was ‘dead’. Lots of Tony whump and angst- what more could I ask for! Thanks for the great story!

MidwestDreamer chapter 12 . 7/14/2017
I have lost track of the number of times this story brought me to tears...not just a bit of the misty-eyed thing, but honest to goodness tears. Although I have been a Tibbs shipper since discovering NCIS, I also love non-slash stories that focus on their father/son/friendship relationship...and this one offered that in spades. The addition of the team's reactions to the possibility that the indomitable DiNozzo might not make it this time added so much to the "team as family" perception.

In my opinion, the show kind of lost its way for a while, using Tony largely for comic relief and, in so doing, often portraying him as an incompetent buffoon. I couldn't- and still can't- reconcile that characterization with Gibbs. His intolerance for anything less than perfection would suggest that Tony would have been booted from the team, and certainly not remained Gibbs's senior field agent and second in command had Tony really been that goofball. I adore Tony...as much for his flaws as in spite of them, and stories like this that portray his intelligence and strength, and also allow us to see some of his insecurities, make my heart sing.

Featuring Davenport as the ultimate bad guy was a stroke of genius. As testament to Jude Ciccolella's acting chops, I can say I despised that character from the moment he first appeared; Mr. Ciccolella's performances as Davenport exuded all of the hubris, condescension, and desire to win, no matter what the cost, which you've attributed to him here. Although a fictional character in a fan fiction story, I was glad to see him taken down.

This was a well thought out piece and, despite my many bouts of tears, I enjoyed it. Thanks so much for sharing...

It has to be Stillwater... :D
NCISFan chapter 12 . 1/6/2017
You didn't disappoint. Tony is the hero and Gibbs... well, not shown in a positive way much at all. Oh, well, still a halfway decent story. Guess all your stories are going to be completely pro DiNozzo. That's not what I want, but I will take a look.
NCISFan chapter 7 . 1/6/2017
Good story except for Gibbs being totally inept and careless. Thinking you're a big Tony fan so of course he is going to be right about everything and the hero in the end. I'm not a Tony hater or a Gibbs lover but the way you're painting Gibbs in this story has really ticked me off. LOL Hoping I'm wrong and the next chapters will be better in that regard.
Guest chapter 12 . 3/26/2016
This was an excellent story, and it was so well-written! You have a knack for the characters' voices. Also, it's difficult to make me cry reading fanfiction, and I was bawling...and also laughing at the well-timed comedic moments! I'm truly impressed, and I hope you keep writing forever.

Wow! What an incredible story, you did a great job on DiNozzo and Gibbs relationship and ask the issues they have. I enjoyed this so much!
VG LittleBear chapter 12 . 7/10/2015
Hi, what a great storyline, perfectly developed! Davenport as the villain is ever so believable! i loved that Jackson Gibbs felt grandfatherly upon seeing Gibbs together with Tony. I was pretty sure Gibbs had a picture of the entire team, but the happy picture of Tony was sweet! Thanks and cheers!
cindythechef chapter 12 . 6/9/2015
AWWW This was so good. I hated Davenport I am glad you made him the antagonist and then shot him LOL
