I also love writing Victor and James as kids.

The only thing about it is that its a little disjointed going so quickly from torture and child abuse to a fluffy "we're friends" tone. Leaves the reader a little unsure how to react. I don't want to say "Ah that was so cute!" about something with a father torturing his son. I must say I liked the Victor-James half of the story better than the Victor-Tom half. Maybe you could start the story with Tom leaving to for the bar. The fact that Victor is tied up and bleeding to make it obvious what had just happened, yet you could bring James in sooner. It might help keep the tone a little more uniform. However, it's not that big of a deal.

My favorite part was when James said he wanted to be a soldier with Victor and Victor scoffed in his head and yet humored him. It was great foreshadowing for their life.

I love it, I can't wait to read more about your take on their childhood. I think they should have focused a little more time for them when they were children in the movies, oh well, at least it leaves a lot of room for fanfic writers to have fun with.
