"The Ghost and Bug type made a hollow hissing sound that sounded oddly close to laughter." This reminded me of Toothless's laughing sound from Gift of the Night Fury, but I suppose most nonhuman laughing sounds do.

Steven and the Champion status is the same in Ruby as it is in Emerald. The only real difference to the story is that you have to stop Team Magma from erupting a volcano and later stop them from using Groudon to expand the land. Team Aqua helps you with this.

Champions seems to have the ability to disappear as swiftly as they could once they beat the League and escape their boring responsibility. Though Hoen Champions is much more flighty. Look at Steven! He gave the responsibility to Wallace as soon as Brendan returned it to him and escaped to the caves for his precious stones. The Kanto Champion Red isolated himself in for three years(or six now?)and his excuse? training. Though I'm curious to what Ethan and Lyra occupy themselves. Did they lock themselves in a convenient cave, mountain or tree? Probably not. Brendan didn't and he met them. Battle Towers, maybe?

-snicker- I really like how you gathered all early games together and the -unspoken- rule about training the native pokemon to make a team from scratch to battle was fantastic.I can imagine Brendan wanting to unleash his Swampert just to wipe away the smug smirk from guy can get on anyone's nerves while the silent Red is a different 's aura just screams unbeatable! You can feel it.

I like the fact that you used the games' Brendan/Yuki and made it work with May/Haruka(Gotta love japanese names). It's nice to see them even if I admit, the possibly-gay-but-not-really Ruby is hilarious especially if you count wild-girl Sapphire to the equation. Those two are growing on me like fungus.

I don't usually like stories set in the Game-verse, but this one I could tolerate.

Pfft, tolerate. It was exceptional! I envy your ability to paint such vivid scenes with the battles, I can just imagine them happening in my head. Also, the fluffiness was rather enjoyable, and is also something I am jealous of; I can never seem to write anything that doesn't advance the plot at least slightly(probably why I don't do oneshots).

Well, well. I don't regret alerting to you in the least. Brendan/May, as you know, is one of my favorite pairings. And I wish I could write them as fluffy and as charming as this, but unfortunately I can't.
