Mengsk chapter 2 . 10/11/2010
I loved this concept. I loved this story. I would have very much liked this tale to be more Matt centric. His presence made no impact on the second chapter whatsoever.

I know why. You cited very reasonable, realistic reasons why he did not say much. But I still wanted to feel as if I was watching events through his eyes rather than Kim's. I wanted to know more about him and not from a single rushed paragraph of an afterthought. If I can't hear him talk how about letting me hear what he thinks.

That's actually a big ask, at least framing it all to be through his eyes. I'm not sure I could pull it off. But it would have taken this already good story to a whole new level if you had pulled it off.

Cool story,

You used a very interesting combination of perspective, seeing as the story is either Matt's POV or third person view. the former holding the plot of the story while the latter is a nice natural conversation that could well be held during a football game.

I wish you good luck with the contest.

keep up the good writing,

DoofusPrime chapter 2 . 9/9/2010
Hey Slipgate -

Interesting choice in looking at the show's characters through the eyes of a younger OC. I also liked Brick being the new Middleton High School football coach, and Kim/Bonnie bonding in their critique of the cheer routine.

Thanks for the story :)
MrDrP chapter 2 . 9/8/2010
A nice, well-written slice-of-life story. I especially liked what you envisioned for Brick's future. It seems very apt!
Mr. Wizard chapter 2 . 9/7/2010
It was different, and great, to hear such a 'mundane' conversation. That was the best aspect. That and the way everything came across as so real. A good story.
sumer11 chapter 2 . 9/7/2010
it was so nice of kim and ron to let matt into their friend circle for the game and share wonderful memeries with him.
Mr. Wizard chapter 1 . 9/7/2010
I really, really like the conversation between the two friends. That made so much sense. You can practically feel the crisp fall air in the writing. Well done.

I liked the way you ended this sir. Panda approved!

Cheers mate!
Katsumara chapter 2 . 9/6/2010
Great finish here, Slipgate. I was going to ask about Kim and Ron's kids (if they existed) and how old they were, but you made sure to reference both things throughout the story. That was great.

I also loved how you included so many older faces here. So I guess Billy/Will came about with a Bobby/Bonnie thing, eh? I didn't notice a husband near her. As far as Josh and Tara, glad to see that worked out. Monique single too? Hm.. and then the visit by Felix and Zita there at the end. That was fun.

Anyway, do keep up the good work, buddy. Definitely liked this take on a reunion!
Sentinel103 chapter 2 . 9/6/2010
Slipgate...bravo very nice. Stand up and take a bow. You know we just had our 40th reunion and I noticed that many of the 'in' crowd were much nicer than before.

I like your Kim and Ron as well as Bonnie. Maybe a little more could have been had from Bonnie and Tara. Now am wondering who Bonnie married though it wasn't central to the story you have gotten my curious. So sometime you might want to revisit this line up.

Of course once you let that monster out of the box it can try to over whelm you (this I know from experience).

The Enduring Man-Child chapter 2 . 9/6/2010
Wonderful chapter. I was a little worried because from Chapter 1 I was afraid there would be some sort of unpleasant surprise ahead like Kim's husband being someone other than Ron. But it was great. Too bad idolized people in the real world can't be that folksy!

I didn't really see any objectionable content. Don't know what you were worried about.
screaming phoenix chapter 2 . 9/6/2010
I suspect the Roger will hear the recounting of this adventure for a long time to come.

Matt was indeed fortunate to pick these two to be a fan of. Not because they have saved the world a time or two. But because they were willing to talk to a tongue tied, starry eyed teenager, assure him that it was OK to be that way, then relate experiences of their own to make him more comfortable.

You were able to show how he felt being included in the discussions of the people around him without any hesitation of those around him.

He was able to see his heroes as real people with a life that might not be as heroic as he would have imagined but a full and loving one instead.

He meet true heroes today. People who are polite and gracious to a because they see an advantage for themselves but because it was in their nature to be that way. Treasure your memories Matt. Few people can say they talked with greatness.

I liked the hinted back stories you provided. Brick' coaching, Bonnies's apparent divorce, her more mellow attitude, Monique, all flowed together to make this a rich tapestry of imaginative writing.

Well done, and thank you for the tale.
CajunBear73 chapter 2 . 9/6/2010
Very well done indeed.

A young spark, who did idolize some alums, finds they are regular folk after all. But each has a spice of life of their own that makes them special in their own way.

For a moment Matt got to enter a world he only read about and found that they weren't 'giants' or anything that would have let him down. Rather a comfortable encounter that he will take with him for years to come.

And someday he'll realize he's made his own way and will look back fondly at the innocence of his meeting with his heroes, while he lives the life he attains.

Earl Allison chapter 2 . 9/6/2010
Very nice, the Bonnie and Kim banter over the new cheer squad was nice, and Matt was an enjoyable addition, too.

So, Kim and Ron are a little out of the public eye, now? That's good for them, they get some peace - except from major fans :)

Early college marriage, too. All nice touches to a great story.

Thanks so much,

Take it and run,
TheRedKommie chapter 1 . 9/6/2010
